Such a sad story, I'm disgusted about how no boxers have ever came to visit him. What do you think?

I think there has been a couple. Nigel Benn finally saw him a year or two ago and held a fund raiser. But I agree it's a shame.
I've donated to his fund a couple times in the past:
Today it costs approximately $70,000 per year to take care of Gerald and pay for the round-the-clock assistance that he requires. Astronomical medical bills and the costs of his yearly care have sadly exhausted all of the money that he has earned as a professional prize fighter. For this reason, Gerald and his family rely solely on donations to the Gerald McClellan Trust to care for him.

I think it already affected him mentally. Lots of people say Jones never had the same killer instinct after what happened to McClellan and wouldn't finish off opponents and at the same time, it also made him a much more cautious fighter.Comment

Here's a highlight of McClellan vs Jackson I, the moment he became the champion, a memory he still remembers.
This was probably the fight that damaged him most, Jackson was a devastating puncher and Gerald took lots of shots that would've knocked out most boxer's.Comment

I think the extra time the ref gave Benn in the first round of their fight, to recover from the knockdown, was criminal.Comment

I don't really buy that.
His fights immediately following the Benn-McClellan tragedy were:
Antonie Byrd
Vinny Pazienza
Tony Thornton
Merqui Sosa
Eric Lucas
Bryant Brannon
His finishing instincts looked fine in these fights barring the Lucas one (the night of his semi-pro basketball game).
I don't think the effects of the Benn-McCellan situation suddenly kicked in after 7 fights.Comment
