Roy Jones Jr Defining Fighst at 168 & 175?

What are his defining fights at 168 & 175?
Which "Elite" fighters did he beat at these weights?
A certain poster on this site who regurgitates put downs from other more wittier posters he has seen says Calzaghe has failed to chase RJJ up the ladder and never met an elite fighter at 168.
So can anyone tell me who RJJ's defining fights against "Elite"fighters were at 168 & 175?

    At 168: James Toney

At 175, the best guys he beat were probably Reggie Johnson, Eric Harding (terribly boring fight), Virgil Hill, and Antonio Tarver.

The Clinton Woods win has probably become better in retrospect based on Woods's success afterwards.

      168: Toney was great
175: Montell Griffin, Virgil Hill, Reggie Johnson, Julio Gonzales, Clinton Woods and Tarver were all good but not great. I guess Harding as well.

Was Toney 100% at the time?

Is it fair to say that Roy Jones is as much to blame as Calzaghe for them never to have met?

No, it showed Jones was better than Toney but Toney wasn't at his best.

A lot of RJJ's wins weren't too big at the time (B-Hop, Gonzales, Woods) but the fighters he beat became champions afterwards.

I dunno....I don't fully buy that Toney excuse about weight loss. I don't think Toney was much more weight-drained for that fight than he was for his other fights at 168.

Calzaghe: I can make plenty of money here in the UK with Frank Warren and not risk going overseas to fight Roy Jones.

Jones: I can make plenty of money here on HBO in the states and not have to leave the country.

                  That and timing/weight class.

Jones-Michalczeswki was the more important matchup since they were both titleholders at 175.

I blame both in both cases, but more so for RJJ-DM since that was a more important fight for boxing.

Perhaps not that particular night, but Toney was regarded as one of the best fighters, perhaps #1 P4P in the sport at the time.
