The Cruiserweights are Finally Coming of Age

By Troy Ondrizek - Most people at 28-years-of-age are long past adolescence, or puberty for that matter. A majority of people that age have careers, a family, or are about to start either or both. Even if one is a late bloomer and haven’t met their goals at this age, they at least have a minimum understanding as to who they are as a human. If you then take 28-years in the sport world, well that is several generations of athletes. Careers have come and gone, role players have been appreciated and forgotten; sports themselves have been revolutionized in that time span. Yet the cruiserweight division is just now starting to create its own identity and is experiencing the growing pains of legitimacy. [details]

True, Cruisers have always sat under the shadow of Holyfield. Haye, Mormeck and Bell brought it out and we should have a hell of a fight with Haye-Macca too ****ers going at it. I want to see haw haye's legs hold up after having to get down to the limit one more time.

Haye has a down to earth attitude and realises he has a lot of flaws as a fighter and realises his chin isn't great, hopefully he takes constructive criticism and improves his defense a little when he moves to heavy hopfully his chin gets better after not being weight drained. I really hope he along with Wlad when he unifies and the prospects can make the Heavyweight division exciting again. I would love for Haye to be successful at Heavy so we can have a truly dominant heavy.

It's good to read about something good and positive for a change.

I'm glad that Haye is going to defend his title,it wouldn't look too good if the division champion relinquished the belts immediately after winning them.

I agree with Jonesy. If Haye would have moved up to heavyweight it would've been a replication of when Holyfield bolted after unifying the titles for the first time. Haye has all the marketability as Holyfield did with not quite as good amatuer credentials, but the Brits LOVE their big boys so the hype is about equal. It only took 17 years for the division to have another linear champ after Holyfield, so Haye staying for at least one bout does wonders for the division and hopefully is a good springboard for things to come.
