I honestly feel even today's Oscar has the tools to beat Cotto. Mayweather was a difficult fight because of his defense, now just imagine oscar landing one those left hooks on Cotto flush?

Exactly. What we saw was a limited Oscar because he couldn't load up on his punches. None of the other welterweights are elusive enough for that, so they're going to have to fight the real Oscar De La Hoya. I don't understand why the posters in this thread are bashing Oscar. He has an excellent chance against anyone he fights

It has got really ridicilous. Specially the Cotto fans, claiming cotto would murder Oscar and whats even more ****ing ridicilous is them using the Bernard Hopkins comparison. Some people thought Mosley beat Cotto, Some people thought Cotto beat Mosley, Many thought it was a draw.

If he can barely beat a Mosley who was competitive with a Shot Vargas (Who got his butt kicked by Mayorga) Then just think about it for a minute.

I feel oscar should just fight Cotto so instead of the all the talk people can see what I'm seeing...

Cotto-Oscar is a very hard fight to pick. I was imoressed with Cotto against Mosley, but Oscar is a little different and a bigger puncher.

The first 3 rounds of his bouts are dedicated to assessing the opponents tactics and than adapting to what they are doing. He DID take rounds off to allow Oscar to wail away on him and gas himself out which infact, WORKED.

I can concur with the fight being competitive and Oscar having a VERY good showing against today's best. Oscar has alot more left than people let on and I think he has more than a chance to beat Cotto. It will be a tough fight, but noone should be writing Oscar off.

                Fighting words ( Oscar)

Oscar is a master con-artist, he get's his ass whipped then makes lame excuses. He has a bunch of people buying his PPV fights, while get's richer laughing all the way to the bank.

See this is the **** I'm talking about. He only has losses because he can pick his glory fights with guys at the top. He hasn't fought anyone who wasn't a top fighter at the time, except Mayorga and Sturm, since about 2000.

What reason does anyone have to think a Cotto or any other WW will walk through him? Mayweather decisioned him, but Mayweather is an outstanding fighter in his prime, and a bad style matchup for Oscar.

Either way it's a win-win situation for him because I garauntee he squeezes GBP into a Mayweather-Cotto showdown and banks. While he may not be as sharp in the ring as he used to be, he's dead on when it comes to business.
I agree totally with this post. Oscar, whatever you think of him, doesn't take easy fights (except Mayorga, of course).
