If Pacquaio beats Marquez, the stakes are raised quite a bit. Because the #2 just beat the #3, and then that really does put #1/#2 on a level all their own. (Marquez is hanging tough with Pacquiao in the rankings because Pacquiao couldn't get the W against Marquez the first time)

    I still say Cotto though.

I think mayweather should fightpac first while pac is still in his prime and cotto should face Paul Williams or even Kermit Cintron. Then fight cotto after pac.

Cotto. The only way Mayweather/Pacquiao is competitive is if they fought at 130, and I seriously doubt Floyd would ever be able to make that. Floyd's filled out quite a bit since his 130 days.

Cotto, but pac would be insanley fast at 140, didnt he come in at like 144 on the night against barrera? Hardly a massive step up for pac.

bottom line is pac wouldn't be able to get away with that same 2punch combo he has been using for the last few years, also mayweather would actually be in his prime too, therefore pac would most likely lose, but his speed could give mayweather one or two issues.

Mayweather would be too much for Cotto, and probably Pac as well. I am more intrigued by he Pac fight, however.

I took the unpopular choice; Mayweather-Pacquiao.

People keep saying Floyd has to fight a welterweight to legitimize his claim of pound for pound supremacy, etc. Manny has been a whirlwind force for years now, has a huge following in his country that even trumps Ricky Hatton's, and is at a weight closer to where Floyd naturally resides. I don't think Mayweather needs to fight a welterweight like Cotto to be anything but a welterweight champion. I think he's fighting these larger men on skill alone, though, and would be more exciting back at the lower weights.

Sure, I think Mayweather is too strong for Pacquiao because he's still slightly larger...but...can't we say the same for Cotto being too strong for Mayweather? Sure, people will say that Floyd is pound for pound so he should be able to handle the size difference- and maybe he can- but eventually even a pound for pound fighter has to admit to limitations. It's not like Mayweather is going to be able to fight a true middleweight...it has to stop somewhere...maybe most 147 pound fighters are too much for him..
