According to writer Kevin Iole, the four featured fighters combined purses, including bonuses, was less than $1Mill. Floyd fought two fights this year and made over $50Mill, how can those MMA guys even put up with that. People say promoters are bad in boxing but at least this way guys get paid for their risks, when you have one organization such as UFC they make the money not the fighters which isnt fair. I just thought this was an interesting fact, the information about the money is posted on Btalk as well.
Purse difference between Boxers and UFC (amazing)

Only problem with your comparison there is that most pro boxers don't earn $50M a fight. Many so-called world champions fight for 6 figures.
MMA is still in its infancy but I'd imagine if it's growth continues then a superstar will emerge on the scale of Mayweather and perhaps the payscales will be comparable. -

True everyone isnt Mayweather but I remember Ponce DeLeon made 300,000 for his last fight and he was on the undercard. The four featured fighters and arguably the four biggest names in MMA and combined their purses were less than a mill, its not like their PPVs are small events. Chuck Liddel is the UFCs biggest star and hes making nothing if this is true, I just thought these guys would be making a lot more considering how big the UFC is, someones banking off of these guys.Comment

But is that their real wages after endorsements and other sponsor ships? Do the big names get a cut of the PPV?
Don't get me wrong - I'm not disagreeing - there is a disparity in pay, just wonder if we are comparing apples with oranges. The two sports are set up very differently, especially UFC fighters and their contracts. They don't have the same freedom to negotiate on a fight-by-fight basis, most are tied to short contracts (4-5 fights).Comment

I have no clue Im just going off of what i read on BTalk. I guess my point is everybody complains about many belts, many promoters, but bottomline is it helps the boxers get what they deserve money wise. The UFC has a monopoly on mma fighters, so yes there is only one champion, but these guys are not making what they should. youre right, you do see fighters always thanking sponsers which is probably how they make a lot of money, but that shouldnt be necessary because i know those PPV are generating a lot of money for some people. But is that their real wages after endorsements and other sponsor ships? They need an Ali v. Frazier type fight and fighters to demand bigger purses. ****, Jack Dempsey in his prime was making more then any top fighter(ufc) is today and that say a lot.According to writer Kevin Iole, the four featured fighters combined purses, including bonuses, was less than $1Mill. If the ufc has a downfall it will be money. Think about TUF, when you win all you get is a "six figure contract". You get 100,000 for 5 fights. And the UFC is the upmost brand of MMA. I like to compare HBO boxers to the UFC. Boxing goes fight by fight and if you good enough to be on HBO your making at least 250,000 a fight. BUT the UFC does have a bonus clause which Dana does release to the public. Ive heard its everything from a new car to double your money if you win.Comment

The bonuses are helpgul, but lets say the PPV does 250,000 shares at 49.99 a pop. Thats 12.5 million dollars. When the cut to the fighters is 1/12 the income from PPV sales. I know there is gates sales and concessions, but I consider those a wash with advertising. say they double the winners' purses. that means 1.5 million. still means 11 million to Dana White and Zuffco. There is a reason Randy Couture, Chick Liddell, and Tito Ortiz have bitched in the past about pay. Sure they make money off of sponsorships, but that shouldn't take away from what they make in the ring. The UFC doesn't determine who a sponsor chooses to represent them.Comment

Thats true. Its funny tho, the biggest stars are thier peak leave UFC. When Frank Shamrock beat Tito, he left b/c of money problems. When Jens Pulver beat BJ Penn he left b/c of money problems. Couture left b/c of money problems. Where did you hear they got 1/12 of PPV sales? The bonuses are helpgul, but lets say the PPV does 250,000 shares at 49.99 a pop. Thats 12.5 million dollars. I didn't hear about the 1/12th part. The guy who started the thread said all 4 purses were $1 million combined. So with roughly $12.5 million (estimated) in revenue from PPV, its ABOUT 1/12th of the PPV income.Thats true. Its funny tho, the biggest stars are thier peak leave UFC.
