WTF is Up with the WBA Lightweight title?

Juan Diaz holds that belt. There has been no talk of him being stripped of that belt.

Yet this saturday on the Huck-Cunningham undercard Prawet Singwangcha and Jose Alfaro will be fighting for the VACANT WBA Lightweight title.

Diaz will not be the WBA title holder after that?

I guess Juan Diaz is a super champion now or something like that. That leaves the, umm, regular belt up for grabs. Or maybe it's a minor WBA belt?

In the end, does it matter? Diaz is the man at 35 and all roads lead through him.

I can think of some other divisions like that as well.
