    Encouragement for Cotto fans!

I really do think it is encouraging for you all that the Mosley fight did not live up to its excitement expectations.

I have come to realize that excitement means both people get beat up.

Getting beat up means there is a chance that you can lose.

It seems like Cotto has finally figured out the hit and not get hit doctrine that all boxers should live by.

He is going to have a damn good career.

A good career with his first loss coming to Floyd. Sorry, I had to slide that in there.

Lol, I agree... but I really didn't want this thread to be negative towards Cotto.

My last line was meant to say, win or lose against Floyd, Cotto is going to do some good **** in his career.

From moron brawler to very intelligent fighter in just a few fights. Very encouraging indeed.

if all boxers lived by this doctrine, the only way would be able to watch a fight is to actually go to one.

That may be true... but it is ****** that a boxer would sacrifice his career for the entertainment of the fans.

but without the causal fans, there wouldnt be a career. ah? ah? ah? did you like that one? now which came first, egg or chicken?

i know what you mean though. i just get tired of all this negative speak on the braver styles man. i just feel that Glory is just as part of Boxing as statistics know what I mean? I see no Glory in what Spinks or Calderon do. You CAN box and be glorius. Just look at my favorite current fighter.

Well think about it. Some fighters are straight up sluggers, through and through. They will always be entertaining, ie Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti.

Now, since boxing is known to people, and does generate revenue, I don't see why Cory Spinks should go toe-to-toe with someone like Ricardo Mayorga. That guy would have been an absolute ****ing idiot had he lost that fight by trying to impress the fans.

This isn't a criticism of exciting fighters. It is a criticism of fighters who don't use their best judgement and best strategy to make getting the W in the easiest manner possible their top priority.

Of course it would be insane to slug it out with Mayorga but Cotto did something with Shane that Spinks doesnt do, engage. Cotto engaged with Shane AND boxed. JMM engaged with Pac AND boxed. Mayweather engaged (here and there) with Hatton AND boxed and it made for great excitement.

Now are you gonna tell me that you would be just fine watching fighters box like Cory Spinks for the rest of your life and you would be contempt with that?

To be truthful I feel Cotto has the ability to end up as a great fighter. Maybe not one of the best ever but certainly one of the if not the best his respective era.

Contempt means holding something in the negative.

                    Content is what you meant.

And no, I told you, I'm fine with what Spinks does.

I'm fine with what Micky Ward does.

I'm fine with fighters who use their advantages to win their fights.

I am NOT fine with what Vernon Forrest did against Ricardo Mayorga in their first fight. That was ******, and it cost Forrest a victory.
