Yea, Rees is just trying to make some dough and let go of his "0". Hatton would destroy unknown this kid . Hatton shouldnt have to lower his standards because he was beat by Mayweather. It seems as though the public has written Hatton off as hype because he was beat by the #1 P4P boxer in the world up against monsterous odds. A ref that should never be allowed to be a part of another HBO PPV event, a 6" reach disadvantage , fighting in Vegas and being fouled the hell out of. It just makes me sick that people meke boxers out to be washed up based on their last fight/loss. Tale Lennox Lewis for example: Got KO'd 2 times and still came back and was considered the best. Hatton wont have a chance for a rematch and really doesnt need it to be considered great. But in no way, should he be written off as some "white hyped chump" based on his Mayweather performance. He was on even terms with Mayweather until the later rounds and wouldnt have been in the desperate position to take that "check hook" if Pretty Boy wasnt fresh from the way the ref took away Hattons chances to do any useful work inside. Im done for now.

Yeah, you're right - altho Hatton shouldn't be made to many excuses. At the end of the day, he was beaten by the better man. Which is the way it should have been.

As for being written off - thats why i think Paulie Mallignaggi is so dangerous. A man, whose still hungry and not afraid to take a loss, because he took a Cotto beat-down and is still wanting knock people out. I hope Hatton regains the hunger and comes back like Paulie.

Guys, Rees is still 27, he has fought two 12 rounders and is the new WBA LW Champion. He was expected to be blown away by M'Baye but his team took the risk and matched him against M'Baye for experience. His next opponent is Andreas Kotelnik, a guy who went 12 rounds with Witter so he is no slouch, lets see how he does against Andreas first.

Never underestimate a member of Calzaghe's stable, Enzo is a great coach.

Well at least we know Rees is looking to fight the top dogs at 140 but I have to be honest if this fight is made i'll be very dissapointed with Ricky for taking it. Rees is a decent domestic fighter but is several levels below Ricky. I think Ricky has to make a statement at 140 again and look for a fight with a proven fighter like Torres or Lazcano.

            **** Torres.

Get back on the horse Ricky and go for Paulie, its do or die, now or never.

Get in the shape that you were in for PBF and emphatically tear Paulies head off. Then go for Cotto.

He's only got a few fights left in the fatty. Use them sparingly - Who wants to see Rees, Torres, Witter, Mallignaggi as Hattons career finish?! Cos i dont.

Give me a Mallignaggi, Witter, Cotto and perhaps a PBF rematch.

They are the LW fights I'd like to see.

To be hounest though I think Frank Warren will try and keep Rees the WBA Champion as long as possible untill Amir Khan steps up to Light Welterweight and fights him.

If you don't know anything about Rees read this.

WBA light-welterweight champion Gavin Rees won the title courtesy of a massive upset against Souleymane M'Baye in Cardiff in July.

It was his first title fight in six years, but Rees boxed superbly to announce himself as a major talent on the world scene

"It was the kind of opportunity I'd been waiting for a long time," said Rees.

"It was frustrating waiting for it, but I always fancied my chances, and I as soon as the bell went I felt totally at home in there.

“He didn’t seem to have a Plan B. In his last fight I noticed he looked tired and didn’t know what to do when he was forced back, so that’s what I set out to do.

“But I certainly didn’t expect it to be as easy as that. I must have won the first eight rounds, so I didn’t take any chances in the last couple.

"I'd had trouble outside of the ring in the past and it took me a little while to get my life sorted out.

"But thanks to my trainer Enzo Calzaghe, I'm 100% focussed now and ready to defend my title against all comers."

At one point Rees' career looked to have badly stalled when his licence was suspended following a criminal conviction for a drunken assault at a wake.

Yet thanks to no-nonsense trainer Calzaghe, Rees is back in great shape and fully-focussed now he is a world champion.

With a host of amateur titles behind him, it was no surprise that Rees has had such an impressive paid career, which has seen him remain unbeaten in 27 fights.

Four Welsh schoolboy titles were accompanied by three straight wins in internationals against his English counterparts, then he won a lightweight title in his first season as a senior.

A former WBO Intercontinental featherweight champion, he was also down to box for the WBO super-featherweight crown, but was forced out when he couldn't make the weight.
