I just rewatched some fights. In my mind Ive been thinking that Floyd looks more filled out now at WW then he did against Zab & Baldy. I said that I think the move up to 154 would help advance his size at WW and he looked much bigger against Hatton. Now Im thinking that I was wrong. I just rewatched some clips from the Zab & Baldy fights for Floyd and he still was pretty much the same size against Hatton. He may have gained a pound or 2 but thats it. Then I watched the Cotto & Mosley fight and its no comparison. Cotto looks so think that its like 2 Floyd's put together. He's built like a truck while Floyd looks like this super thin guy. Then I think about Williams and its even worst.
I still cant believe that Im only one of a few who make a big deal about the weight thing. I still say that if Floyd fights a guy like Cotto then its great but it shouldnt be mandatory. He shouldnt be called a punk when you look at how physically different these guys are. Its just not fair. Floyd is a natural 130-140 pound guy. 140 is his cut off point and its clear. He can go above that because he is one of the most gifted fighters ever but the fact is that above 140 he stands a chance to lose to someone who is clearly not better then him. Some writers and fans say that Floyd is a punk for beating up on Hatton and not fighting the big WW's. How can you even think that at all? Floyd physically is on the Hatton level. Its like he is being ripped for being too good. Really Floyd right now is supposed to be fighting guys like Hatton, Diaz, Paulie, Witter, and so on. That is the physical level that he is on but if he fights those guys now he will straight up kill them and not get any credit for it.
Its not fair to say he has to beat these guys that are clearly natural bigger then him. Its really just a sucky situation. It stinks because the best division by far right now is the WW division but its also the Floyd boarder line. It would be so different if Cotto, Margarito, and Williams were big 140 pounders. Floyd would have no problem fighting them. Thats what Hatton is. If they were big 140 pounders they would still be clearly bigger then him but Floyd would be physically at a level where he could legetimatly compete. At WW its just too big. Im not saying he cant win. I still think he wins against all of them but I also wouldnt be shocked if he lost against any of them and to win he might have to win in a boring fashion that would get him even more ripped.
I recently just read a article where a guy compared Floyd to SRL. He said its not the same because SRL fought everyone and he ran down a list of guys like Camacho, Benitez, Hearns, Duran, and Hagler. I said how is it fair to compare Floyd to that when SRL was a natural big WW. He's fighting those top guys but there still his size. Even the haters have to admit that if Floyd came into this sport as a WW, he would easily fight those guys right now. Are you going to be so stubborn that you would say that if Floyd started his career as a WW then he would duck those guys? Hell no he wouldnt. At 130 Floyd fought everyone. He fought Chico who was more feared at that time then Cotto & Williams combined. He killed everyone and came into the ring at 147. Floyd fought him at the meer age of 23 because it still was his natural weight so Floyd knew he could handle himself. Now your talking about his 4th division where he's probally weighing like 148 in the ring and there 162. Thats like SRL going to 168 to fight guys as good as Hearns and stuff. He might not do that. I dont think he would.
Cotto & Williams see Floyd as easy meat. They see him as a little boy. Its not just about fighting the best. Its the fact that the #1 guy in the sport is like a little boy compared to them. Who wouldnt jump at that fight. Williams even says it. He always says that Floyd isnt a real WW and shouldnt be there but yet he wants to rip him and fight him? You dont see Cotto dying to fight Williams. The size matters alot. People who make excuses about Williams size against other people at that weight are punks. Williams is a freak but there all still big WW's. All those guys should be lining up to fight him. There is no doubt that if Floyd was a real WW and started at that weight then he would easily fight Williams just like he did Chico. Remember how Floyd wanted Naz and everyone ripped him? Naz was considered easily one of the best and was just one weight class lower. Floyd isnt scared about figthing the top guys but its different when your at the cut off weight and those guys are huge. Its not like he's Pac. Pac seems to move up and get even bigger. If Pac was Floyd then it would be like Floyd at WW weighing 160. Floyd isnt like that though. He's just moving up without gaining real weight
