Well stated Vlad that is what Cotto must do to nail FLoyd. Just like Tarver. He has to insult and challenge Mayweather, he has to show he really wants it.

FLoyd is banking on Cotto being a nice boring polite guy - just like unfortunately Margarito and Paul Williams are. Gotta dis that punk to get him in the ring.

        1. Keep disrespecting him in the media. As Dios posted earlier one of Cotto's Quotes, "Hatton is overrated". How about "Floyd is overrated".......that would make some headlines in boxing circles.

        2. If you're fighting a Margarito or a Clottey next and if you beat either one of them, keep calling for Mayweather in the post-fight interview....get creative with it. I suggest Cotto hires some writers who can come up with some good lines for him because he can't do it by himself. Too RoboCop-ish personality to get it done himself.

        3. Besides Mayweather, go after the other title holders....particulary Cintron who is easier to beat. Having two major titles at 147 and still calling out floyd disrespecting him as a man and a fighter could get it done.

REMEMBER, at first Roy Jones did not wanna fight Tarver. Tarver was calling him out during the Ruiz-Jones Post-fight Conf. and he declined. Roy wanted to fight his own version of O$car in Mike Tyson and then retire but Tarver kept talking and having unified all the belts at light-heavy helped also. Roy's pride finally got in the way and he took the fight. Perhaps he underestimated Tarver all along or maybe he just wanted to shut him up but he did take the fight.......AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THAT. Roy got baited even into a second fight and got knocked out in the rematch.

Does Cotto have the goods? We don't know but if he wants this fight he needs to step it up verbally and make some noise. Cotto simply just beating the best put in front of him isn't going to get it done........feel me.
The best? I can already see the threads after the fight: "Cotto was overated", "Who did Cotto beat? 36 year old shane mosley and feather fisted malignagui?"

Cotto just isnt big enough for Floyd and if he's ducking Williams who are we to say Floyd's ducking him? I mean, as a young man shouldn't he be fighting young men?

Cotto can barely speak English. He is also not a good actor and all of the scripted things he says in his interviews appear just as they are; Scripted.

Cotto needs to win another big fight and maintain his grace. The fight will find him when the time is right. These things take time, men.

Does he really need the old man to get the big fights???? Or is he just that unintelligent to handle his own business?
If it is at all possible I think that's a fine idea.

If the pound for pound champion of boxing does not want to fight someone no one is going to be able to make him. Floyd is the only boxer other than Oscar who has been on the Tonight Show, and Jay Leno and Conan and all those other talk shows promoting his fights. He made more money in 2007 than most football and basketball players. He's hit not just the pinnacle of boxing, but he's transcended into mainstream culture. People know who he is now. If you watch ESPN or read you've at least seen him mentioned.

If Floyd Mayweather decides, for whatever reason, not to fight Cotto- nothing Miguel says, no dissing in the media, no amount of calling him out- none of it will get Floyd. The only thing Cotto can do is try to become as popular in mainstream culture as Floyd and then force his hand- but I doubt that'll happen.

He's going to have to get a new promoter and grow a personality which I doubt is going to happen. Arum is a theif and that is why Floyd refuses to work with him.
