Upon looking at his record and assuming he was green and young, you'd think Taylor would beat him. Upon watching him fight, no way I see Taylor beating that guy. That was Hops in his physical(though not yet mental) prime. It all came together for him in the late 90's/early 2000's.

      1. How did Bernard grow an inch after he was 25?
      2. Easy to look good against a guy with a 1-1 record that has no jab or defence to speak of (that guy went on to finish his career with a 1-3 record.)
      3. Bernard had 12 first round KOs and 23 fights and was 28 when Roy Jones beat him, and people try not to give any credit to Roy for this win.
      4. Taylor would have easily beaten this Hopkins with only 4 pro fights under his belt.

no taylor wouldn't have beaten that hopkins...............taylor didn't beat him the first or the second time. officially he did, with the quote unquote "points" he did, but as far as a FIGHT was concerned, taylor didn't beat hopkins, taylor got beaten up, especially in their first fight. and he eeked out a draw i thought in their second fight.
you have to beat up the guy and out land him to really win in the court of public opinion, which hopkins did and taylor did not do that at all. just like the judges having taylor winning in the pavlik fight, bull****. thanks to all that is right in the world, pavlik took matters into his own hands and won it his way.

that is how hopkins is going to have to let his hands go against calzaghe with his ring intellect of today, if he can.........................

wow, that was impressive, even though his opponent was only 1-0

What happened to Hopkins??? He was so fan friendly early in his career... and he hasnt been that way since...

Anyway, its way to early to tell how Taylor would do against that Hopkins, and the competition was so weak. But who knows

Popkins was a walking powerhouse back then.
Why does nature have to slow you down?
                  Taylor beats that Hopkins BTW.

Based on his performance in that matchup? Or based on the fact that you looked at Hopkins record and assumed he was just young and green?

I've seen plenty of young Taylor prior to facing Hopkins, and he rarely looked that impressive. And Taylor around the time he faced Hopkins was easily better than the Taylor we've seen of late, with Steward as his trainer.
