LOL at D.I.E.S.E.L picking Hopkins by KO... because Hopkins is a power puncher and Joe has a glass jaw.

      Nah, I shouldn't mock.

Yeah so I hope the fight gets made.

But I don't want to hear all about how great Calzaghe is if he does in fact beat down the grandpa who took up boxing in his senile second life.

I mean I've always said I'd give Calzaghe credit for a Hopkins victory...........and this is no different. I just don't want to read 10,000 threads like "Will You Yanks Finally Admit That Calzaghe is Greater Than Ali?" or "Another Yank Bites The Dust".

When Hopkins is about to bite the dust anyways.

That's where me and you differ, SS... cos I won't give The Blow ANY credit for this win.

Apart from the fact that Slop is about 94, I've always said he was an overrated pile of ****... I'd look a hypocrite if I changed that now.

(Who was it who said that they'd credit The Blow if he beat Lacy and that it was "the most impressive victory I've ever seen"?)

Remember: Joe Calzaghe = Jesus Christ.

Lol, this usually happens on Non Stop Boxing when a fighter wins, sometimes for days, sometimes for weeks but they all settle down sooner or later.

I just hope when he beats hopkins his last fight is against Chad Dawson, then he can retire as in my opinion there are no other fights for him. Ofcourse IF dawson beats Glen Johnson as scheduled, and Antonio Tarver. November 2008 it would be good Calzaghe vs Dawson.

Dawson-Calzaghe is definitely the next fight Joe should take if he beats Hopkins and Dawson does his part but do you think that Tarver will step up to the plate against Dawson should it get to that point?

Yeah Dawson might give Calzaghe problems. But then again he definitely can catch him, and Dawson is succeptable to big punches.

                .
I maintain that was probably the most impressive single victory I've seen......or had seen in years given the circumstances.

But lets put some things into retrospect. Is it just me? Or has Lacy been total **** ever since the opening bell of the Calzaghe fight?

Lol he struggled horribly against Tsypko and Manfredo ( A couple of guys that a prime Lacy would have clearly blown out of the water). Something about a shoulder injury? I'm not making excuses. All i know is what I see..........and Lacy has been a slow 1 punch plodding target ever since then. That kind of changes the landscape when it comes to rating fighters because of their conquests with Lacy.

To be honest Dawson does'nt need Tarver, Tarver needs him...Tarver has lost two of his last six fights and almost lost to a bum mediciore fighter in Elvir Muriqi...I dont think Tarver will face Dawson anyway because he knows Dawson will kick his ass, too big, too strong, too fast and a slick southpaw with boxing skills.

I think Dawson should Unify with Clinton woods if he cant get the Tarver fight, he would beat Woods as well. I just dont want Calzaghe to face Jones Jr after this because rumour has it he will face the winner of Jones-Trinidad, there is no point of that fight, just fight Chad Dawson when he has victories over Johnson and Unified with Clinton woods.

As a fan of Joe's I don't really want to see him fight Dawson at this point, at least not without a couple of fights to grow into LHW, which I don't see him doing very quickly. Just because Joe is getting older and is having a hard time making 168, doesn't make him a LHW. If his hands were 100% and he could go back to punching with more power like earlier in his career, he'd have a better chance. That said, if Joe fights Hopkins and one other fight like Woods, and Dawson fights Johnson and either Tarver or Woods, it would make a great final showdown for Joe.

I agree with all bolded statements. Also, a win for Calzaghe against a young fighter in Dawson adds more weight to his resume than a string of wins against ex-champions....at least in my humble opinion.
