You can never count out BHOPS. Just by him taking this fight with Calzaghe you have to raise your respects for him. Most would think he would not mess with red hot Calzaghe now, as Calzaghe is the true P4P (he just beat the two best in his division Lacy and Kessler convincingly - Floyd will not fight the two best at his division Cotto, Williams).

So for Hopkins to take on Calzaghe shows you that Hopkins must have seen something about Calzaghe he can exploit. Us mere mortals can't see anything but a painful loss for Hopkins. But it don't matter what we see, Hopkins sees something.

Yea, he sees a payday and doesnt mind taking a "L", to get it. There is no shame in losing to Calzaghe, since he is really a great fighter with alot of stubborn heart and skill with a durable chin. But, when you look at it: Calzaghe needs to be fighting Pavlik right after Taylor gets beat down in the rematch. He is the man who beat the man who beat the so called man.(Pavlik beat Taylor who beat Hopkins, twice)So why fight Hopkins? Because he beat a defensive Wright in a snoozer? Or, because he beat Tarver, whos only claim to fam was beating Roy Jones by lucky punch or beating Johnson, who beat Jones by a not so lucky punch? Hopkins needs to just fade off into the sunset and let his promise to his mother be fulfilled.(the one that stated that he would retire before 40 that he already broke twice) And, Calzaghe needs to fight Pavlik and Dawson and call it a day.

I think this is the only fight wich i dont give Hops a chance in winning. Calzaghe throws waay too many punches and should be able to outpoint Hops. As much as I love Hops this is a fight he will probably lose by dec.

You never know though...but I'm a big Hops fan but i'm just keepin it real. Calzaghe by split dec.

If JoeCal beat Hopkins in their upcoming fight, then there is not much opposition for him in that division and he may retire from boxing undefeated. Personally, i would like to see Hopkins beat Joe but i don't see it happening. BHop is fast catching with age, and his last two fights were far from being impressive while Joe's last two fights (Lacy, Kessler) were superb. If Joe retires after beating Hopkins, i think Hopkins should hang up his gloves too.

Can't blame Cal for wanting to retire after he fights Hopkins. He's had a very good career and a win over a legend would just add to his legacy. It would be great for him to go out on top and it looks like that is exactly what he plans on doing. Props to Joe.

Really who is there for Calzaghe to face after Hopkins? Dawson? He's too green, Woods, Johnson, Erdei or any of the other "top" contenders in the LHW division? Please they can't compete with Calzaghe. What about the guys in the SMW division? Kessler, he already beat him. Bute, Froch, Inkin? Please they can't compete with Calzaghe's skill level and talent.

Depending on what happens I could envisage a fight between Calzaghe and Taylor taking place.

those who believe marquez will upset pacquiao never learn to dissect the art of boxing. when pac fought ledwaba, nobody believe pac would win (by knockout), the same with barrera and morales, and a hosts of pacman's prevoius fights. pacman gave his rivals neat boxing lessons, including his first fight with marquez. marquez was too lucky to ink a draw, courtesy of a boxing judge who was too old to remember the correct scoring of boxing per round. pacquiao has all to beat marquez... again! power, handspeed, lateral movement, lightning straights and right hook. these are the weapons of pacman far superior from marquez. marquez cannot win against pac by just counterpunching... pacman is too much for marquez. if marquez failed to KO barrera and juarez, how can he win against the Mexican Destroyer?

Eh, thanks for that but maybe try putting it somewhere that it actually fits in.

                      Joe Calzaghe talks retirement

BRITISH boxer Joe Calzaghe says his next fight could be his last.

Calzaghe unified the three world titles in the super-middleweight division when he beat Mikkel Kessler of Denmark last month, taking his record to 44-0.

"I have got two fights left - tops,'' Calzaghe was quoted as saying in The Daily Mirror. "I might even have one more and then decide to pack it all in and then get on with the rest of my life. Who knows? There are plenty of other things I want to do.
"My next fight could most definitely be my last. I don't want to fight on for money. That's not the right motivation.''
After beating Kessler, Calzaghe said he would like to step up a division and challenge light heavyweight Bernard Hopkins, but no deal has been finalised.
"I need to have a goal, like Hopkins,'' said Calzaghe, who turns 36 in March. "It has to be something big to motivate me.''
Calzaghe said few fighters could match his record of 21 title defences over 10years. "I've achieved almost everything I wanted to achieve,'' he said.
