That's exactly my point. It's a real black mark on his record. He can be champion now but the man Williams just beat to take the title really put the hurt on Cintron. If you, some boxing fan on a forum, can easily scoff at how quickly Margarito dispensed of Cintron last time, don't you think that weighs on Kermit's mind? He must have some doubts, and insecurities- some fears about facing Margarito again...but he's doing it.

If he does find a way to dominate Margarito he'll show how much he's grown as a fighter and a fight with Williams would be that much bigger.

Im sure it haunts him to this day...Im also sure that he was green the first fight..Im also sure Manny Steward is a damn good trainer....Im also sure they see something they can exploit in Marg that they dont see in Williams.

I think HBO and the powers that be would milk that to death...and everything you said is spot on. I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea for him to rematch Margarito- it takes balls and he has a HUGE amount to both lose and gain in doing so.

You convinced me...I still think he wants no part of Williams but if he beats Marg in impressive fashion he will have no choice but to fight him..Cotto or Floyd.

You know, that could be true. Maybe he doesn't have confidence that he can beat Williams right now...maybe if he knocks out Margarito he'll gain that confidence. Possible, right? Maybe he has fears that haunt him, like you said, to this very day...and it effects his game. Who knows.

Point being, even if he does fear Williams- which we'll never know- rematching someone who whooped your ass and almost derailed your entire career is something we have to respect- and if he can pull out a big win..well..who knows. With the help of HBO hype and the added confidence he gains maybe an entirely new Cintron steps out of that ring after the Margarito fight...
