I'm still not sold on Alexander Povetkin yet

Don't get me wrong, he is going to win against Eddie Chambers. But what I want to know is, can he be the next big thing in boxing?

He has an excellent record built against stellar opposition. His opponent selection, including Chris Byrd and Larry Donald, is among the most audacious I've seen from a young heavyweight in years. He has excellent Olympic credentials. He has an extensive array of punches that he can throw in combination.

But he's smallish, weighing in the 220s. He's also not the fastest fighter, tipping his shots at times. He doesn't jab enough for my liking at times. He doesn't have the most impressive physique and it shows in his breasts. He has decent power, but not nearly enough to be indomitable.

I like Povetkin, but he needs a serious, complete effort against Eddie Chambers to convince me that he is the real deal.

Don't underestimate Chambers. He has some serious skills.

Povetkin seriously lacks in defense but showed very good stamina and workrate, so I see him easily winning against Chambers. It's Klitschko where he's going to have a huge problems...

Don't have a clue about Povetkin.

I just hope Haye will be able to carry his power to Top Heavy Level, I also hope his Chin Improve somewhat with his move to heavy like Cotto's move to Welter.

Nobody has thought he'd be the next big thing. He's pretty good though

Agree completely with this. Povetkin keeps coming and Chambers better not fight like he did against Brock, taking rounds off, if he wants to win.
Chambers has a great jab, I just don't see how he's going to keep Povetkin off him for 12 rounds, because Povetkin keeps coming and he throws short straight shots, and he has some nice hooks and uppercuts in his arsenal.

Povetkin was Olympic Super Heavy Champ with a distinguished amateur career and it's not like he's 21, so they are moving him at the proper speed IMO. When he fought Byrd, Byrd was peppering him with the jab and Byrd fought better than he has in years and still suffered the TKO loss.

The Chambers fight is going to be very telling, but I just don't see anyone beating Wlad right now.

hard to really gauge him in the brock fight as brock came in looking like a fat slob at 241,,,,,wayyy too heavy for him and he was literally almost decapitated by wlad so he may have been damaged goods in that fight
