This and saying that all of Chavez's opponents were Tijuana cab drivers (which just jumps out at me as quite racist) makes me hate him quite a bit.

He was just playing a role to get people to buy tickets (the fight drew like 100,000 people to watch). After he got whooped by Chavez he said: "Those must've been some tough taxi drivers you fought".

Or something like that. So he did have respect but you first had to beat his ass.

Calling them taxi drivers after the fight doesn't seem respectful to me.

Lol, I guess this is ironic that I would criticize him, being a Mayweather fan, but you are right, it probably was different if I could have heard it live.

i would'nt worry about it, chavez beat haugen senseless, and made him say "those must be some tough cab drivers" after the bout.
