By Ronnie Nathanielsz - When Nonito Donaire was training to fight ****y, undefeated Vic Darchinyan for the IBF and IBO flyweight titles nobody really gave him much of a chance of winning let alone surviving the vaunted punching power of Darchinyan. [details]

This guy easily falls into one of my top 10 current favorite fighters. His boxing ability is brilliant and his power I feel is underrated. I'm also very impressed with the speed and snap he puts on his punches. I look forward to watching more of Donaire next year.Comment

Donaire is a good fighter. You can make an argument that he could be in the running for fighter of the year with his KO of Vic and TKO of Maldonado who drew with the very impressive Mijares.
He's a very big flyweight so it makes me wonder if he will stay there long.
He can fight the winner of Naito-Wongkjong(sp) or Navarez and then possible move up to fight Vic, Mijares, Montiel, Castillo, Arce .
Nevertheless, they probably won't let him beat up on his Pinoy brethren Penalosa or AJ Banal.
He was talking about his trouble making weight in his last fight, and I think his future is going to be in the superfly or bantamweight divisions.
As long as he doesn't fall in love with his power, he should do very well.

I agree if you mean that in the sense that he is on the rise and loses sight like what Pacquiao is doing and I also agree if you mean that in the literal sense that he starts focusing solely on his power aiming to be an exclusive KO artist instead of his outstanding ability to actually box.Donaire is a good fighter.
