Man, good question. Dokes did have some great punching speed. I've always liked those low to the ground Heavys. Maybe because of Frazier. Dynamite Dokes...

Dokes was very promising, though lacking of the boxing ability of a Page or Tubbs. The drugs robbed him of at least a very good career.

I loved Dokes hand speed lol. People say that the 80's heavyweights where rubbish but they weren't they just ruined there own careers. Anyone have any of dokes early career fights?

I loved his hand speed, too, especially looking at it after 20-something years.I was more of a Page fan, but Dokes was more focused, threw tighter combos, and more connected than Greg was.I did have his fights vs Ball, Cobb, Ocasio I & II, and Gardner.

Great fight, one of the more underrated heavyweight fights.

Wasn't this voted the best heavyweight fight in the 80's by the Ring Magazine? I think it was.

Lyle vs Foreman was great because it was two of the hardest hitters ever going at it and it was a great slugfest but people who appreciate technical ability might find it a bit overrated.

Dokes vs Weaver 1 would have been nice if not for the controversial ramifications.
