    Ingle: Witter would KO Mayweather

Junior Witter’s trainer, Brendan Ingle, has claimed that his fighter would knock out Floyd Mayweather if the pair ever met in the ring.

WBC welterweight champion Mayweather underlined his status as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world with a hugely impressive tenth-round stoppage of the previously undefeated Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas earlier this month.

However, Ingle is adamant that Witter, who holds the WBC strap at 140lbs, is actually a superior boxer to 'Pretty Boy'.

“I am telling you now that Junior Witter would knock out Floyd Mayweather Junior. I have no doubt about that whatsoever,” the charismatic Irishman declared in an interview with the Guardian.

Witter would appear to have little hope of securing a bout with Mayweather, whose future remains unclear following his admission that he is now bored with boxing.

Indeed, many people Witter should continue his pursuit of Hatton, who has already stated his desire to drop back down to light-welterweight.

However, Ingle does not see any reason why they should go after ‘The Hitman’.

'What do we need Hatton for,” he asked. “Hatton gets battered by Witter, knocked out. The fight we want is Mayweather.”
