Why does everyone think Cotto can beat Floyd?

Cotto has never beat anyone. His best wins are Paulie Malignaggi, Carlos Quintana, a washed up Zab Judah, and an old Shane Mosley. You cant even put this guy in the same category as Tito. Tito actually beat people. But Floyd beat Genaro Hernandez (long time champ), Diego Corrales (Fought just like Cotto, with pressure and power), JLC (2X) and so on and so on. Look at the records of people like De La Hoya, Tito, ANd other past champions and Cotto doesnt even come close to the level of competition. Why do people feel that he cant take the power of Cotto when he took Oscar's power and speed ( yes Oscar is faster and stronger because he fights in a bigger weight class). On top of that Cotto has a soft chin. If Chop Chop Corley and Ricardo Torres had him on noodle legs at 135 and 140 tell me how will he take being hit by a guy who has fought al the way up to 154. And dont say he took Mosley's power because Mosley is NOT a BOXER he is a brawler with short arms that fights on the inside and was way past his prime. And dont say that he knocked out Vargas because Mayorga drop vargas 2X. I just dont see how Cotto even has a chance. To me, they are just trying to make this guy to be more than he actually is because of the Puerto Rican community and they see the MONEY potential in him.

I hate to break it to you pal, but Floyd is not invincible. Cotto will give Floyd a tough fight and he is definately capable of beating him. With all that being said, I would still put my money on Floyd by Decision.

Cotto didn't beat Zab he annihilated him. He did the same with Malignaggi. ****ed his face up. Quintana was a good contender. Mosley even past his prime is still a very good fighter. Cotto whooped his ass in 5 rounds. Cotto is the 2nd best welterweight in my opinion.

I think Floyd would beat Cotto, but Cotto's pretty good.

i feel that he would give floyd problems but would lose by close decision. i think cottos best weapon would be his jab. i mean he did good against mosely give him that but the dude was 36 and even he landed a couple of good shots on cotto. I think he would have problems with a much younger faster opponent in mayweather. it would still be good fight nonetheless.

I've come to the conclusion that Cotto is overrated. Doesn't mean that he isn't a really good fighter, but his fans (mainly from Puerto rico) deliberately overrate him. This is why they're scared to see him fight Paul Williams, who'd surely kick his ass around the ring and shatter his class chin.
