Did you guys even read my post??? Here it is again. I'll bold some of it.
Floyd turned Pro as a 131 pound fighter. A Lightweight. Jr Lightweight goes from plus 126 pounds to 130 pounds. Floyd has weighed LESS than 130 pounds (the Max limit for Jr. Lightweight), a whopping FOUR times in his entire career. With a full day to gain weight back before fight time, the lightest he has ever come into a professional bout was 128 and 1/2 pounds. WHich is the ONLY time in his pro career he weighed less than 129 pounds.
He was never a NATURAL 130 lb fighter. But that may have been the best weight he ever performed at.
So when someone talks about Roberto Duran winning the Welterweight crown, it was roughly 30 pounds north of the division he turned pro in. And also after an eight year stint in his prime weight class. ANd Having to make weight the day of the bout for every fight.
You guys can spin it all you want. It IS impressive that he is beating fighters who blow up to 160. Corrales would of fought at 147. Zab at 154. Hatton at welterweight. List goes on and on.
I just feel that the same day weigh in stuff like I am talking about IS more impressive.Comment
