Multiple titles in multiple weight classes

    Is overated.

I wish posters would not get so wrapped up in this.

The REASON Floyd has won titles in so many weight classes is DIRECTLY related to Day Before weighins.

Had Floyd grown up in the era of Same day Weighins, by the time he was ready for a title fight, he would have been fighting at Jr Welterweight.

So to say that Floyd is competeing TODAY in a weight class 17 pounds above the weight class he first won a title in, means very little.

Floyd turned Pro as a 131 pound fighter. A Lightweight. Jr Lightweight goes from plus 126 pounds to 130 pounds. Floyd has weighed LESS than 130 pounds (the Max limit for Jr. Lightweight), a whopping FOUR times in his entire career. With a full day to gain weight back before fight time, the lightest he has ever come into a professional bout was 128 and 1/2 pounds. WHich is the ONLY time in his pro career he weighed less than 129 pounds.

He was NEVER a Natural 130 pound fighter. But that may have been the best weight he ever performed at.

Duran, who for some reason for the SRL comparison has become analogous to Jose Luis Castillo (oy), turned pro as a flyweight. Alexis Arguello turned pro as a Bantamweight. They Grew into their Championship weight classes. And made the weight for those bouts the same day.

So when someone talks about Roberto Duran winning the Welterweight crown, it was roughly 30 pounds north of the division he turned pro in. And also after an eight year stint in his prime weight class. ANd Having to make weight the day of the bout for every fight.

    That to me, is impressive.

Floyd rarely puts on weight even after a weigh in. when he fought at 130, he would weigh in at 128 and 129, and only get up to about 133 or 134. I see no logic in your post.

You are missing some things: Take the 147 pound division right now with Cotto, Williams, Margarito, etc. All of them will blow up at least 10 pounds by fight time, Floyd, will come in at 147-149, unless he blew up for this last fight, I'm still not sure on that, but prior to Ricky, that was his weight. So what does that mean, if we go by your way, Cotto, Williams, Margarito, etc. are not in his weight class, but guess who is, that's right, Ricky Hatton, probably Pac, etc. Looks like Floyd is going to kick some ass still.

Oh, and remember, Floyd increased his weight through eating and lifting, and not because his body said, "we need to move up." He wanted the titles in different weight classes, he wanted Oscar.

By the way, like the poster above mentioned, Floyd never had trouble making weight, never had to "kill himself" to make weight, unlike so many others.

And, the weight increase, I've asked somebody, it's been going on forever. Whenever there is time to drain and then put on, it's been alive.

Mayweather doesn't really dry out that much to make weight.

He did for the Jesus Chavez fight, and there were stories about how this made him more grumpy and more of a ****, and not giving interviews (Floyd usually loves to talk about himself).

DLH is a guy whom owes more of his multi-divisional thing on the day before weigh in.

He only made 130 lbs twice, and you saw how much bigger he was than his opponents at 130, 135 and even 140.

No way does he make 130 or 135 under the old rules.

Ive seen more fights and own moer fights than you could even imaginze azteca. As far as your comments, floyd would be fighting middleweights if there were same day weighins.....................He would be even more dominant and he would have more titles if their were same day weighins.

To be fair he was killing himself to make 130.

                And buddy,

There IS a difference between same day weigh ins and day before weigh ins.

****ing tool. THe facts are right in front of you. Accept them.

Would'nt that be a disadvantage for him in the fights? Winning fights comin weight drained is impressive if you ask me
