Kostya Tyszu: Mayweather is the best pound for pound

    Setana Sports, UK

Former light-welterweight king Kostya Tszyu believes that Floyd Mayweather’s status as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet is now beyond dispute.

Mayweather dismantled Ricky Hatton in stunning fashion in Las Vegas on Saturday night, stopping the Mancunian in the tenth round after wowing the watching world with his speed, accuracy, poise, power and, perhaps most impressively, fantastic work on the inside.

It was an awesome display and one which Tszyu, who was knocked out by Hatton in 2005, believes underlines the fact that ‘Pretty Boy’ is currently in a class all of his own.

”I think there is no doubt that Floyd Mayweather Jr is the best boxer in the world, pound for pound,” the Australian wrote on ********boxing.com.

“He has backed up his words against the best and that is very important.

”While he lost the fight, Ricky Hatton still did a good job. He was pressuring Floyd and even in the middle rounds, he was pushing himself to be better and pushing Floyd to be at his best.

”Floyd surprised me with the way he finished the fight. The knockout was from a perfect punch.

”It was a perfect left hook and it proved once again in boxing, you can knock anyone out with the correct punch and excellent timing.

”After the fight, Floyd’s face was unmarked and it showed what a talented boxer he is,” Tszyu added.
I guess he doesn't think Hatton has the style to beat Mayweather any more.

i think the people who really dislike mayweather were convincing themselves that Hatton had what it take to disarm Mayweather. It clouded their judgement. Right now, I dont really see anyone who could beat PBF, thats not to say that he should stop fighting, he should fight the people he's supposed to fight now instead of fighting who ever brings in the most money since he's "philthy rich" already.

I see people that could beat Mayweather. But this is more for the purpose of demonstrating how Kostya shifted opinion entirely after the outcome of the fight.

it sounds like u jut want PBF to fight until he loses so u can say "i told u so"! if u predict the comboys are gonna win the super bowl every yr for 10 yrs, and on the 10th yr they finally win, that doesnt mean u know what ur talking about. it just means it finally happened" if u keep saying that PBF is gonna lose, eventually one day it will happen, but if it takes another 5 yrs for it to happen would u still say, "i told u so"?

werd, The only fighter who has a shot at upsetting mayweahter, because at this point, a win over mayweather is considered an upset, would be Paul Williams but Floyd is too much like the T1000 in the Terminator 2 if you know what I mean. He would find a way to adapt to Paul's game plan after 3 rounds of examination and research.

That's how it works in fighting - You fight until you lose. Not so anyone can brag but so you can prove you're the best.

No one cares about the Cowboys and I cannot be bothered to decipher the rest of whatever it is you are trying to say.

no my homie, Floyd is a welterweight right? Look at the top dogs in the Welterweight division and tell me how many of them he has fought? For his last 1-2 fights, I just want him to fight the most logical threat in the division. thats all. Why is it SO much to ask for him to fight the best? This is a sport isnt it? This is a game isnt it? Why play? Why fight? If its not against the best?

To maximize pay and public notice. Which there is nothing wrong with but then you don't get the right to beat your chest like King Kong of the P4P from beating the likes of Ricky Hatton.

Easily, a point that is often overlooked. I can name 10 guys right now that will not only beat Floyd, but may even KO him:

                  Kelly Pavlik
                  Wladimir Kitschko
                  Bernard Hopkins
                  Antonio Tarver
Roy can probably still do it
                  Sam Peter
                  Chris Arreola may be ready
                  David Haye
                  Alexander Povetkin
and even Oleg Maskaev can do it!
