The Boxing Holiday Wish List

By Dave Sholler - Family members have always told me that I am one of the most difficult people to buy gifts for during the holiday season. Much to their chagrin, when I see something I like, I buy it. Thus, my impulse buying creates some interesting gift dilemmas for those in the Sholler family. However, this year is unlike any other. For the 2007 holiday season, I do have a wish list. And I promise I haven’t bought anything on it yet.

This holiday season, I do not yearn for a Norelco electric razor, Nintendo Wii, or Dubs for my Chevy Tahoe. No, ladies and gentlemen, all I want for Christmas is another great year of boxing in 2008. Without further adieu, let me reveal what my stocking should be stuffed with on Tuesday morning. It’s clearly all about the Sweet Science for me this holiday.

All I want for Christmas is a Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Miguel Cotto fight at the end of 2008. Let’s face it: if Money Mayweather does look to defend his pound-for-pound status in 2008, Cotto is the logical opponent. Since the Puerto Rican star burst onto the scene, he has quelled the notion that he is one-dimensional and defensively impotent. In fact, he’s proved that he can box (see Shane Mosley fight) or slug (see Zab Judah fight), all while steadily improving his defensive game. [details]

There's no point to that fight. It's only to give those two a big paycheck.

That's right, Trinidad-Jones is soooo pointless. Two fighters way past their prime facing off at a weight which makes no ****ing sense, I won't even watch this garbage

According to Trinidad he wants Hopkins again, but that's if beats Calzaghe first, in which he won't. For my Christmas wish I want Trinidad to beat Roy Jones Jr to set him up a matchup between Calzaghe. I think Trinidad vs Calzaghe would be a very intriguing matchup, and wouldn't be a total mismatch as some people think. A Trinidad vs Pavlik matchup would be intriguing too.

As for Andre Ward, he will lose to the top contenders in the SMW. His power is average and has a leaky defense, along with a leaky chin.

My other Christmas wish is for Chad Dawson to fight earlier then April 5. I wish for his fight with Glen Johnson to be canceled so he can fight Adrian Diaconu in January, February, or March.

5. King and Arum BANNED from Boxing 4 LIFE
6. Taylor to outbox Pavlik twice to show how overrated Steward is as a trainer
7. MMA 2 shutup and stop tryn to compete with boxing, there are enough fans to go around for everybody. I will purchase both events if they are worthy.
8. A conclusion to the WW tourney 1.PBF v. 2.Cotto & 3.PW v. 4.? and Winner takes all!
