Interesting Pommy who could be world champion

Matt Skelton is a 40 year old heavyweight from Britain. Probably Britains best heavyweight at the moment, as he beat Danny Williams with a UD last year.

He fights Ruslan Chagaev on the 5th of January in Germany.

But there is an interesting thing about him. He turned pro at 35 years of age. If my data is correct.

Has there ever been a world champion that turned pro at such an old age?

P.S Skelton has the same chance of winning the belt as we do as all of us forgetting christmas on the 25th. It won't happen. But his late status to professional is interesting.

Whoa, an Aussie actually giving us respect in his own bitter way

Seriously though Skelton is ****e and if he ever becomes world champion then it's time to pack the sport in for good.

The most boring person to appear on ITV and that is a very tough thing to do.

Hes got a win over Danny Williams. That must mean something. I found it interesting though. Why did he turn pro at 35?

Just read him up on boxrec and watched a little vid on him. ?

He was kickboxing in Thailand or some other Asian country for years then decided to bore us Brits to death with his ugly style of fighting.

Trust me the only reason he beat Danny was due to the fact he wanted it more, Even though it is not saying too much Williams on peak form is easily the best British HW IMO.

He was actually a kickboxer in the K-1 promotion before he went pro as a boxer hence his advanced age in starting out. He was pretty ordinary in K-1 so he has tried his hand at boxing and although I've never seen him fight in a boxing match, from what people have told me I don't want to.

Hopefully Chagaev by KO in an UGLY fight.

Bloody Aussies must love this ****, you all have to pick the darkest period of British boxing and highlight our flaws as fighters.

When is Tszyu or Mundine's next fights.

I'll keep a very close eye on them
