What if Floyd camped at his real weight class of LW/JWW?
Bigger can matter. You can be the best P4P fighter, go up against someone say two weight classes above you and be beaten be a very good fighter who although isn't better than you P4P, will win because he is bigger and stronger.
Say this, if Floyd fights Wlad, Floyd is getting his ass kicked...not because Wlad is better P4P, not because he is the better technical fighter, but because, well, yes, he is better in this case. Overall, the best fighter is Wlad, but P4P, it is Floyd who is the best boxer.
Floyd could lose to somebody at 147, I would still consider him
P4P the best fighter, why, because he is way above his original weight class and fighting fighters that are in their first weight class, except for Cotto, who should have never been at 140 anyway.
This is also the reason why I don't have Calzaghe at #1, which some actually do, he never moved up to show he could fight bigger fighters. He stayed at 168 because it was safe, safe away from a Prime Roy Jones Jr., safe from bigger fighters at Lightheavyweight. Yes, I'm saying that who Roy fought at 175, because they were bigger, were more dangerous than who Joe was fighting. How many times have we seen Very good fighters move up one weight division only to get their ass kicked by a simple "good" fighter.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 12-22-2007, 09:15 PM.
