After all of the back and forth negotiations over money, the fight is finally set. Paul Williams (33-0, 24 KOs) will defend his WBO welterweight title against Carlos Quintana (24-1, 19 KOs) on Feb. 9, with udefeated welterweight prospect Andre Berto in the co-feature. HBO has moved Williams' bout from Feb. 2 to Feb. 9, the date originally reserved for the Juan Diaz-Michael Katsidis lightweight bout that fell apart last week. [details]

Steve Forbes is a gutsy lightweight, why would he risk a loss to Berto because I don't see him winning. They should consider Alfonso Gomez as an opponent for Berto. Gomez is a brawler with a great chin and good power and speed. Berto is also a powerful, fast fighter which should really pack this fight with fireworks. Both are up and comers and a bout would boost their contender status.Comment

yeah Gomez vs Berto should be considered, since the Chavez Jr./Gomez isn't going down
interesting that Issac Hlatashayo is one of the names who could fight Andre Berto.
I was looking around the web and **** and found this
which says Hlatashayo could fight Ricky Hatton in 2008. dunno how much truth there is to it though.
*if the link doesn't work .. Google the name
Isaac Hlatshwayo .. and look at the second row .. 2nd image from the left.Last edited by MJ406; 12-20-2007, 01:52 PM.Comment

Seriously? They're considering Forbes for a Berto match? A blown up Super Featherweight is really what he needs to show us he's the real thing?
I can see Rodriguez (a natural Welterweight), but Forbes and Issac Hlatashayo (a blown up Lightweight) really aren't much of a challenge.Comment
