I am a Big Margarito fan...but he is only strong at 147 because he can fight smaller guys or drained guys. I think he should just stay at 147 as long as he can make weight.
Daniel Santos was stronger and tougher then margarito that night and Santos isnt really a top class fighter...I will be honest Margarito style if he goes to 154 or 160 against a guy like pavlik will get him ko in the early rounds cause those guys are stronger then him and hit hard as mules.

No doubt that fighters like Marg drew the Welterweight line, lol but Williams and Santo's litterally reinvented that line.

lol There's a reason why Santo's has never, and will never be put in to a fight as big as a Margarito fight aslong as he's a Welterweight. Because he's rediculously huge lol. Same thing for Williams, other then the 3 tall strong Welter's in Marg, Cintron, and Quintana, no other welterweight handlers will actually be ****** enough to take that fight.

I mean the only thing that's keeping fighters as big as Santos and Williams down at welterweight, is the fact that they wouldn't make it as Jr. Middleweights. They're not strong enough, they're just pestering big guys that are too thick to knock down with enough reach to keep you back, they can't knock anyone down or out, but at the same time they're just too thick to be moved.


Now Miguel can't land a heavy shot on Tony with leverage like Santo's can, So if Miguel hopes to knock down, let alone buzz Tony, I think it has to be with a body shot that lands on that dime. Or it's gonna be late in the fight. I'd think.

Margarito went up to 154 to fight Santos cause Santos was supposedly having trouble making 147. But he went back down to 147 after the santos fight cause he couldnt bully santos like he did the guys at 147. Margarito has heart he was competitive but his style is of a brawling pressure fighter and only a few can go up in weight and do that Roberto Duran is one of them.If santos gave margarito the rematch at 147 instead of 154 margarito would of disposed of him.

Santo's isn't even at 147 anymore. Their first fight was at 147 though, just Santos is that much bigger then Tony. He can do those things to Margarito, Santo's is a huge guy.

But Marg, Cintron, and Quintana were walkin that fine line at welterweight for their heights and body mass. lol But Williams is now that line.

My only point is, you can't really take that Santo's fight into consideration unless Miguel was like 5'11 and could thud you with some heavy shots. If anything, Miguel will win late and with accumilative shots.

To those who run around this forum claiming Tony was never hurt, I suggest you watch this. For those of you who think Cotto has no chance in hell against Tony Margarito, I suggest you watch this video.

Youtube, I was the first to do highlights controversail highlights, I had over 80 of them for Puerto Rican boxing, some against descions like Laporte-Chavez, I made a highlight of Santos-Margarito, with clips from both fights, as to this most feared bull**** that stoped once Clottey knocked some sense into peoples heads about him being adverage nothing to be most feared about, hes just a light middleweight Mexican, and thats what I like about him Mexicans have great heart and will and thats why hes dangeous, but I think Cotto will past the test easily so he can retire de la hoya and prove hes a better atg than Oscar from light-welter weight and up, not to put Oscars acghivements down from superfeatherweight.

Santos is longer and bigger than Cotto.
He's a Southpaw. Cotto can switch, but not to that effect.
