    Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Freddie Norwood

Cuban olympic gold medalist Gamboa is deffinately not taking on easy competition man.

He is 7-0 (6 KOs) and hes fighting Freddie Norwood on January 5th. Norwood is a former world champ and is 42-2 (23 KO). His only losses were a DQ loss for punching a guys nuts and to Derrick Gainer. He also has a win over Juan Manuel Marquez. Norwood is DEFFINATELY past his prime but this is still a crazy fight to take.

I think Gamboa is going to win and impressively. The guy can box for real, he just needs to keep them hands up. Hes good at slipping punches with his head while his hands are down but he'll eventually get clocked. I still say Gamboa beats Norwood, and if he wins man hes ready for a title if he isnt already.

that is AGGRESSIVE match making. Fair play. I like that. When you get a guy who is obviously very talented it is boring watching them destroy fighters in a round in what are apparently 'learning fights'. What exactly you can learn from destroying someone like that must be pretty minimal.

    How old is this guy?

      Hes 25

His pro debut was against a guy who was 6-1. His last fight was against Adailton DeJesus who was 19-2 and a good prospect who can handle himself in the ring. His fight before that was against a guy who was 25-1. He has destroyed everyone they put in front of him. This cat can fight. Hes got quick reflexes, a high workrate, good defense but mostly slips punches and doenst block that might bite him in his ass someday, and his punches a very fast and sharp.

I agree to an extent, I can't really comment ont he other two but Khan is being matched pretty well recently. Willie Limond and Graham Earl are pretty good fighters at this stage.

But Khan needs to clean up the British scene first so he needs to fight John Thaxton first even though that name wouldn't mean **** to Americans, then he can target the european champ 'Romanov'.. I think. Then on to a world title challenge namely the WBC belt. This is a classic route

He'd then be going into a title challenge as the British, commonwealth and european champion. This is the route ALL top British fighters should take. I'll stop watching him if he fights for a WBU title

Gamboa is the truth. I was at his last fight and the boy looked like Roy Jones in the first round. His problem is that he doesn't yet have the maturity to settle down and get into an effective 6-8 round game plan. He also needs to jab.

For Barthelemy, get him a payday and a nice ranch-style home in the suburbs.

Gamboa is probly the most talented prospect in boxing, his record so far is impressive,i cant think of anyone today who has fought this level of comp so early, the way he slips punches and the way he punches are amazing, his last fight was great,he beat De Jesus up
What pissed me of was the 'knockdown' the ref ruled against him,it was a clear push,i was baffled, boxrec have got it on there,'DeJesus down in the 1st rd,Gamboa down in the 4th' very misleading to people who dont know him

Khan is not stepping up as fast as Gamboa but still pretty fast imo, faster than most. Chavez is annoying but on the other hand you cant step up as fast with an guy who had zero amateur fights as with an guy like Gamboa who has tons of amateur fights and a gold medall. This guy doesnt need no tune ups, he knows how to fight. He has only to learn to go 12 rounds. Sames goes with Odlanier Solis, but Solis has to get in better shape and thats why he will take a bit longer than Gamboa to reach the top.

I have been a fan since his first fight, which oddly enough I saw by accident. Definitely a future star.
