Another fighter like Dempsey and Tyson to light up the Heavywight ranks. Both Tyson and Dempsey not only had a style that was pleasing to the crowd, they were both on top of the World when they were at their best, so it would be great for the sport.

Jack Dempsy is better in someway and Tyson better in someways.

Jack got super chin for a normal look like body and Tyson got speed with a huge body even though he is short HW but he is big guy.

both a fearsome brawler that have good combonation of speed and power unlike Erin Shavers or George Forman or any other HW. even though there one shot power is not as power as many HW but there speed combined wit the power makes them the most fearsome HW of all time for both fighter.

Joe Frazier is an honorable mention he got power as well as speed but his power unlike those two

I would say from a pure boxing perspective that Dempsey as the innovator was the better man. He invented the bob and weave and without him there wouldn't have been a Tyson. Having said that prime vs prime I think Tyson would win, he was too big and too powerful for the 190 lbs Dempsey. Dempsey was the better fighter but Tyson had more physical gifts. What a brilliant fight it would be though!

Interesting footnote to this discussion: Dempsey at his peak was loathed because of the baseless accusations that he was a draft dodger. It was after he hung em up that he became almost universally adored and a media darling. Tyson was loved at his peak, and it was only when he started to decline that he became vilified for his bad boy behaviour, **** convictions etc.

Head to head I would take Tyson. In terms of legacy, I would also take Tyson.

Maybe if Dempsey fought black fighters I would think otherwise.
