In the face of blatant cheating through biased judging, the decision of the Pinoy boxing delegation to walk out in protest was clouded by emotion and anger.
Of course in hindsight, it becomes apparent that it was wrong and unsportsmanlike, but can anyone blame them for doing so at the height of their frustration?
Does anyone notice that the host country almost always gets the highest number of medals in the SEA Games? That does not happen by mere circumstance and can best be explained by questionable officiating. Just consider this: Out of the six competition for the gold in the women's boxing division, only one Pinay won simply because she knocked out her Thai opponent. As long as both fighters remained on their feet, the Thai boxers were sure to win on points every time.
Sad to say but the SEA Games has lost its relevance, and the country should instead focus on the more prestigious Asian Games and the Olympics.
