The fight was essentially signed before Zab Judah fought Baldomir. Absolutely everyone thought Baldomir had ZERO chance of winning that fight. Judah was fresh off the biggest win of his career in a Spinks KO victory, and the Baldomir fight took place in his HOMETOWN. This was Judah's "look good fight, before the real fight".

Judah, somehow lost, and Baldomir became the lineal champion. Still, a lot of people wanted to see Mayweather vs Judah, back in 2004/2005, Judah was the popular choice at the time, as to who had the best chance of beating Mayweather.

Plus, Mayweather fought Baldomir right afterwards, so why does it even matter? Floyd beat the current WW lineal champ, and the former undisputed WW champ (1 fight prior) in back 2 back fights.
