Why does Joan Guzman fight in a weight class he doesn't belong in?

    There are HUNDREDs of fighters that do this.

    If he makes the weight on the Weigh-in, thats all that matters.

    He fights at a lower weight class then is natural for him so he has the edge in strenth and size... add that onto his almost certain speed and defensive advantage he'll have over all his opponents... and there will be no part of the game ur opponent will have an advantage in...

      he balloons up to 150 and still doesn't seem to have a lot of pop at 130

        No, the difference with hopkins is that he weighed middleweight year round for most his entire career, he never ballooned up in weight between fights.

        Cant knock the guy for being in great shape. Hopkins never killed himself to make weight, then blow up by fight night (which is what other fighters do). The guy is a machine and stays in shape 365 days a year, which is why he's still fighting at 42.
