The hometown return of Miguel “Mickey Mouse” Roman (23-2, 16 KOs) was spoiled with a decision loss when former contender Genaro Garcia (36-6, 20 KOs) took the vacant WBC Fecombox super bantam title with a unanimous win. Roman was nearly annihilated in the first round when Garcia landed a left hook that floored the hometown favorite. Roman, somehow, weathered the storm and, by round three, was fighting back. Garcia’s jab and ring savvy piled up the rounds to win with scores of 120-108 and 116-111 twice.
