A couple of people have posted questions asking what Mayweather has to do to be considered an alltime great. As far as I'm concerned, he is already an alltime great. To be mentioned along the greatest though, here is what he has to do to convince me:
He has to fight Miguel Cotto or Williams. Notice I didn't even say BEAT Miguel Cotto or Paul Williams. He just has to fight one of them. Even though his recent opponents have been good fighters, I think they have all been very carefully selected.
I'm already convinced that Mayweather has alltime great boxing skills. He has proven that. In order to be mentioned in the same sentence as Leonard and Hearns, Robinson, etc., he has to prove he has as much balls as those guys. If Mayweather were to take a fight with Cotto or Williams, be competitive, and lose, I would put him right up there with the greatest.
He just has to take one of those fights. Is that too much to ask?
