PART 1
Honestly the more times I rewatch that fight the better it gets. It seems like there's more action in the fight every single time I watch it. Hatton certainly gave a game effort and proved that he is truly an elite P4P guy. I would love to see him fight someone like Diaz. That would be special.
As for Floyd, there are somethings that stood out to me. Everyone says that Floyd is HBO's darling but there is no way you can say that if you watch his fights. They pretty much rip him in every single fight. One thing that really made me mad about this fight and alot of Floyd's fights are that the HBO team always assumes that Floyd is losing if he's on the ropes or if its toe to toe. I cant believe that have watched Floyd for all these years and cant see that he is just like Ali, Toney, & RJ among others who are great boxers that love to fight off the ropes. Floyd does it all the time. Just because he is on the ropes doesnt mean that he is losing or doesnt want to be there. Everytime they went to the ropes you would hear Lampley go off about how Floyd doesnt want to be there and how Hatton is killing him. Floyd did want to be there and was doing some great things. He blocked or rolled alot of those shots and was firing back with accurate counters. Then you hear a guy like Lederman say that Floyd is showing no lateral movement. Lederman was giving Hatto all the early rounds because he said that Floyd never moved to the side but just stood there and let Hatton trap him? What are you talking about? Why do you assume that Floyd wants to move the whole fight? The reason why he just let Hatton come in and didnt step to the side is because he wanted to go toe to toe with him and thought that he could handle himself and wear Hatton down and it did work.
Its so ****** because the HBO team are always like the last guys to catch on. They never catch on to whats happening until its obvious and Floyd is dominating. Well how is he doing so well now if Hatton was destroying him so much? It makes them look dumb because they talk about Hatton so much and then Floyd starts taking over and it makes it look like it came out of nowhere when really Floyd was doing well all along. After Lederman said that comment about the lateral movement then you hear Merchant trying to jump in and be smart. He jumps in and says I think that is happening because Hatton's speed is surprising him. He then says that Floyd has been fighting guys like Baldomire who would be 30 yards up the track against Hatton. The way he said Baldy's name was all dragged out like he was clowing Floyd for fighting guys like him and now he's in with a real guy that is kicking his ass. No Merchant, that had nothing to do with it. Floyd was letting Hatton come in like that because he thought he was able to outfight him in the inside.
