Tszyu: No shame in losing to Mayweather

Kostya Tszyu, the man Ricky Hatton beat to first become a world champion, has said that Hatton did a good job against Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas.

Tszyu, the Russian-born Australian, has not boxed since losing his IBF light-welterweight title to Hatton in Manchester in June 2005, although the 38-year-old has not announced his retirement, but he said there was no shame in losing to Mayweather.

"I think there is no doubt that Floyd Mayweather Jr is the best boxer in the world pound for pound," Tszyu said. "He has backed up his words against the best and that is very important.

"While he lost the fight, Ricky Hatton still did a good job. He was pressuring Floyd and even in the middle rounds, he was pushing himself to be better and pushing Floyd to be at his best.

"Floyd surprised me with the way he finished the fight. The knockout was from a perfect punch. It was a perfect left hook and it proved once again in boxing, you can knock anyone out with the correct punch and excellent timing. After the fight Floyd’s face was unmarked and it showed what a talented boxer he is."

Tszyu actually beat Roger Mayweather, Floyd's uncle and trainer, by a unanimous points decision in the first defence of his IBF light-elterweight title in 1995. Since losing to Hatton, he has also appeared in the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars - Mayweather recently appeared in the US version.

But according to Welter_Skelter, Tszyu doesn't know what he's talking about..

Yep agree. There is no shame in losing to PBf but there is shame in being one of Floyd easiest opponent thats what Hatton was. Although Hatton had the ability to make PBF fight and make the fight more entertaining. I give him that. Btw Hatton only won 2 rounds

they had a celebrity chick from his country come and sing it though so I thought it was her song that she must have made reference to him in, she was the gal who performed it the night of the Judah fight and I noticed that in the Hatton fight he came out to a recording of it, it's a nice record to listen to when you in workout mode, that whole "soooooooomething worth fighting for, soooooooooooooooooomething worth fighting for" is nice..
