So, for real... Calzaghe vs. Pavlik at 168

Are you all ****ing kidding me?

What is Pavlik's main asset? Power, right? Anyone who says no needs to get their sleeping bag, and get on the bus for camp ****** immediately. Joe Calzaghe's chin will blunt that power by 8 pounds, which is quite a bit in boxing terms (look at Trinidad's power from 154 to 160).

Yes, Pavlik is a totally sweet dude, and a pretty good fighter. I mean, his jab looked good against Taylor, and his technique has improved a lot. Does anyone think his technique is better than Kessler's? I'm not sure, but I'd take Kessler's technique any day of the week.

So seriously, do the people picking Pavlik think he is going to ****ing outbox Calzaghe, or is he going to punch a hole through him with his ridiculous power?

My guess would be for the latter, but let me ask you... did Trinidad knock anyone's head off at 160 after he moved up again? He knocked out Mayorga, after landing like 300 punches (yes, the Mayorga who had been fighting at welterweight).

Does no one get it that power goes away when you move up?

I don't think it's possible to outbox Calzaghe, the man has skills.

As far as I'm concerned, this would be the fight to see. I think that Pavlik's technique is nowhere near the level to give Calzaghe a problem. Pavlik however, has the power, the heart, and the will to win, which would make this a very good and dramatic fight. Not to mention, the publicity this fight would generate if Calzaghe defeats Hopkins and Pavlik defeats Taylor. It would be a great fight, I would pay $50 to see it.

Who would have thought that someone so brilliant when it comes to boxing knowledge would agree with me on this point?

To be honest, I didn't see a lot to pick from between them.

Pavlik had the edge for most of the fight (except the second round), but it's not like Pavlik was schooling him... I thought the rounds were close for the most part.

I think if Taylor screws his head on right, he could beat Pavlik, and a lot easier than people expect.
