the only guy that deserves to fight Floyd right now is Cotto. Williams need a marquee fight and Margarito showed he cant hang
What Level Is Floyd On?

The way PBF should be thought of
PBF should be remembered as the beast he was at 130 to 140lbs, by far the best ever at that weight. but he will always catch hell for all the fights he had at 147 because he did not fight the best ww in his time. ( going to fight oscar at 154 -"oscar never was good at that weight and has not been the same since the TITO fight) and ricky hatton aint no ww at 5"6Comment

I've actually been wondering the same all week. Many people line up all these fighters who they call "fighting the best" when the "best" hasn't done ****. I agree that the ONLY one right now who even comes close to deserving a shot is Cotto. The rest of the "best" need to fight each other. Floyd can't fight every damn one of them. There is always so much hype about the guys Floyd "ducks" and then when he beats them they are no longer important. Then the rest of the guys slide in and it's the same old story. Truth is, most of them won't do anything to for his legacy. He'll beat them and people will say that whoever it is was overrated or some BS. Cotto is a good fight, but the rest of the so called best really need to fight each other. It's laughable that so many of you think you know boxing yet you fall for all these traps and are blinded by hate. Now everyone wants a piece of Mayweather since that's where the money is, but how many of them really deserve a shot? Barely any of them till further notice.Comment

Well put...though it seems like with the beating of Hatton Floyd's gained a bit more respect.I've actually been wondering the same all week. I would rate Floyd as one of the best of our era, but definitely not a legend until he clears out the 147 division. That's the difference between him and SRL, Duran, Tito, Oscar, ... They ALWAYS took the toughest challenges out there, not only on the beginning of their career, win lose or draw. This is a honest question Ive recently thought about and I really seriously want to know what you guys think. My question is what level is Floyd on? Is he on the elite level or has he earned the right to be considered the best of the best?
By this I mean everyone is saying that Floyd cannot be the man until he fights Cotto, Williams, and Margarito. However, what happened to the notion of guys having to fight eachother to get to the best? I personally think that Floyd has done enough in his career to call his own shots. He's a undefeated Champ with 6 titles in 5 divisions and is widely regarded as the P4P best. None of those WW's even come close to those accolades. My point is that I think Floyd has got to the level where they should have to fight eachother to get to him. He's not only the real WW Champ but even better he is the P4P champ. He's done it for years and now is in the late stage of his career.
Seriously, what has Cintron ever done to really deserve a Floyd fight? What has Clottey really ever done? Margarito? Williams? All those guys have ever done is been fortunate enough to be in the WW divison but they havent done anything near what Floyd has done to say they deserve a fight. Since when does beating Mathysee get you a fight with the best? Since when does having like 5 losses, recently losing to Williams & Santos, while only beating Clottey & a very green Cintron earn you the shot with the best? Since when does only beating Margarito make you the man to beat? Since when does getting destroyed by Margarito make you a threat to the best? Since when does losing to Margarito and getting tagged all day by a small Chico make you worthy? Im honestly not saying this to diss so dont come back at me hard but Im being real about it. Dont you think these guys should have to knock eachother off to get to Floyd?
Were judging Williams only by looks but he really hasnt done anything special to be able to jump straight to the elite of the game. The only guy who is close is Cotto but even he is far off. He's got some solid wins but he still hasnt beaten one guy who is near his age and was a real threat. I would really like to see him fight a Margarito, Williams, or Clottey to earn a shot at Floyd. Most of those guys are trying to be slick and not fight eachother so they wont lose before they get to Floyd and the public is dumb enough to allow it and say that Floyd must fight them. The only guy who has fought those guys are Margarito but he's the guy with the most losses, who recently just lost twice. Seriously, how come we ask Floyd to fight all of these guys right now without asking them to fight eachother? You talk about taking risk, Floyd has fought in 5 divisions against guys way bigger then him. All of these guys have been WW's there whole career and have fought everyone much smaller then them who are mostly all inferiorComment

Floyd has grown into a legit WW. Stop wit the excuses and lame statements. I thought you were goin somewhere else wit this thread from the title but your right back to the same old song and dance. Like Mayweather said on 24/7 he's got enough money so he cant be doing this for the money it must be the love of the sport so give everyone what they would love and fight Cotto or fight Williams, Cintron(even I think that would be a blowout) unify and retire proud. This is a honest question Ive recently thought about and I really seriously want to know what you guys think. people ***** about floyd not fighting top competiton but regard roy jones as the greatest fighter of his era, but did they criticize roy jones for his competition like they do floyd? so what roy jones fought toney and hopkins, they were still green to a certain extent, and to me the only reason people use them to make arguments is because what they accomplished after they lost to roy jones. hmmm. floyd fought and dominated corrales who was a heavy favorite because of his size and punching power. jones didn't dominate hopkins did he? it was a good fight, but roy did not dominate jones. did he dominate toney? no. he knocked him down? yes, dominated, no. floyd dominated hernandez who had that time, accomplished many things to get where he was. floyd is on an all time great level, bar none, greatest of his era level.Comment
