because when there is a unification there is proof of the guy at the top of the division. There will always be disputes as to whether another champ beat the other, unification sorts that out and we have one recognised big champ.

Because the number one beef with the alphabets is that noone knows who the champion is. If they unify then we know who the champion is.

Trouble is that all the sanctioning bodies want to have their own rankings and their rankings are influenced by more than just objectively perceived ability. So a unification and one real champ per weight doesn't exactly fit with the modus operandi of the alphabets...

Added to that some of the ludicrous multi-champ bodies with their super champs and their unified champs and you get a massive slurry of garbage "champions".

Um, don't the two go hand and hand? Of course if you hate the organizations, you're going to call for a unification.

people hate organizations because of the sleaziness and unworthy challengers.

sometimes it doesn't prove anything if an alphabet champ won his title thru vacancy by beating the #1/#2 contender who in reality is like top 20 in the division.

kermit cintron became ibf champ by beating mark suarez.

            mark suarez

There should only be one belt per division, but the polotics of boxing has screwed it up over the years....if all the governing bodies could unify through agreement you would get the ultimate fighter in each division and a man losing a world title would'nt earn it back again in his next fight....it sometimes makes a mockery of boxing for me....GET BEAT=START AGAIN

i think 2 belts would be great better than one belt and better than 4. Then we could ahve to legit champs fight each other and you know who the top dogs are in each division with each getting mandatories.
