RICKY HATTON has been told he cannot challenge WBA light-welterweight champion Gavin Rees in his next fight.
Hatton, 29, is considering his options after being knocked out by Floyd Mayweather for the WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas.
And trainer Billy Graham wants the Manchester boxer to return to light-welterweight.
Insane
Hatton won IBF and WBA titles before stepping up a weight for the second time to face Mayweather.
Welshman Rees, 27, holds the WBA title but his manager and trainer Enzo Calzaghe said: “I’d be insane to let Gavin make his first defence against Ricky.
“I’m a manager with a heart. It’s not logical that we put him in with Ricky.
“They see Gavin as an easy route to being world champ again but I rule it out at the moment.”
