Mayweather was priming hatton for that all night, even in the same corner.

I remember watching an interview with mayweather (not too sure if it was 24/7) where he said he's going to expose a flaw in hatton.. could this of been the flaw???

a check hook is still a hook, it doesnt come in a special angle unless the fighter wants it to. It could just come in at the same angle as a usual hook, as it usually does

I thought a check-hook was a hook where the opponent comes charging in and you sweep to the side and hit the opponent with a hook to the head.

In Karate we used to call this a "sweep-hook", using the the aggression of the opponent against him, while countering in constant flow.

Roy Jones Jr. uses this a lot, including in his fight with Ruiz. In fact, Floyd has decreased the use of the jab, like Roy ended up doing, in exchange for the lead left-hook more often. He also throws less, like Roy ended up doing and goes to the ropes more, like Roy ended up doing. I still hold that Floyd isn't 100% in his prime anymore.

it starts from the belt and is inbetween a hook and an uppercut.

same. in my gym that was just a hook. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think it's more how it was thrown (baiting hatton in, feinting with the right, and making his punch land first, sliding off to the side) that made it a check hook. but like i said, we just call that a counter hook.

It's the same one SRR landed often and knocked Fulmer out cold with.
