People talk about Cotto's chin at 140lbs but I would love to see how Hatton would take Torres shots. Cotto's chin was compromised at 140lbs towards the end of his jrWW career because of weight issues.

Its clear that he was cutting too much weight and drying himself out TOO much, which hurt both his workrate (stamina) and chin in the last few fights at jrWW.

With all that said I still believe Cotto is the more technically sound boxer and was very big at jrWW. Hatton wouldn't be able to bully him around on the inside. Also look at those counter left hooks that Hatton gets caught with throughout his career. Specifically look at the Tzu fight and see how many clean left hook counters Hatton gets caught with. The same was true all night against PBF. Substitute the left hook which orthodox fighters landed for a left uppercut against southpaw's who have there natural power on there left and you'll see why Hatton had trouble with southpaws.

Cotto can counter beautifully and I think Hatton would wither under those shots.

You can find some hints by looking at how Hatton took Zoo's shots.

At 140 Hatton. At 147 Cotto.

Cotto's chin at 140 really started sucking at some point. I wonder if he weight by fight night was increasing sensibly arond the same time.

Does anybody share those beliefs or am I off base.

cotto's chin wasn't nearly as strong as it is now when he was at 140.

cotto would have been beaten by hatton at 140 in my opinion. probably by a late ko or a decision (cant see an early ko)

now at 147 i think cotto overall has improved by leaps and bounds; his chin is better, he seems to have more power, and much better ring generalship and even will box from time to time and doesnt do too bad of a job doing it.

i say HE scores a TKO of hatton around the 10th-11th round or it goes to the scorecards.

Hatton didn't get caught with a clean right at distance from Tzu the whole fight. Tzu landed clean counter-left hooks but his problem was that his power is in his right.

He did land them. He did not land many of them. But you can see Hatton feeling them, shaking them off and keep coming. So there's your answer.
