    Calzaghe needs Pavlik

Beating up Hopkins will look good on his record but theres no doubt that Hopkins is a washed up 42 year old piece of ****. Calzaghe needs to take out an accomplished prime fighter like Pavlik to be considered an ATG.

      Would you say more accomplished?

But even so 1 name is not good enough. Eubank, Lacy and Kessler are the only stand out names on his record that are gonna mean anything to anyone. If he wants to be remembered an ATG he needs Hopkins and Pavlik IMO.

Pavlik holds a win over Taylor but I wouldn't say either him or Kessler were particularly accomplished.

People on here live and die by what the HBO commentators say.

They gave Kessler praise in what was a terrific losing effort... but he still lost.

How people can immediatly say he'd beat anybody 168 or below is ludacris. IMO.

Kessler-Pavlik is one of the most evenly matched fights in years, and it would one of the best fights in years to boot

Easy way out or ducked by anyone around him? Jones didn't want to know and Hopkins reneged on a contract giving him his highest payday ever to get out of fighting Calzaghe 5 years ago. Hell, even Taylor's own promoter said Calzaghe would win against Taylor.

                Who else was there?

yea i agree, Calzaghe has only 2 or 3 good names on his record, spread out by years.

But he has showed excellent talent, and would prove far to much for Dawson at this stage in Dawsons career IMO. Dawson could eventually be good enough to beat Calzaghe, but now? i dont think so

I didn't watch it on HBO but you're right it is a pretty even fight and would be entertaining but I think Kessler would win and is a more rounded fighter than Pavlik.
