you're an idiot. soccer's popularity has risen year by year. Houston has one of the best teams in the league. Soccer has been getting more attention now that Beckham is in the states and players like Cuauhtémoc Blanco are deciding to play their final years in the states. Regardless of what you want to believe or care to believe, the US is actually VERY decent when it comes to international play. We just choke alot.

not if he wants a successful one. Here in the UK a decent footballer such as Ronaldo get bought by a club not a national team for 12 million pounds thats about 24 million dollars. Whereas I'm sure you're aware a star in the sport such as David Beckham was purchased by La Galaxy was for 128 million that 246 million dollars i think. Imagine buying 11 top players proberbly alot less in the USA plus the subs, If DLh does hypotheticaly want the top players he would have to go to europe and would cost him Millions.

because Soccer in America hasnt even broken through yet. It's gettin more popular, as soon as they get a following they will find some decent players.

The thing with america and sports is that if the best players arnt american they dont watch.

            excample(spell check):

Baseball use to be very popular but since the cubans dominicans and asians got into it, the sport has gone down.
NBA the best team (spurs) is made up of 4 foreigners. umberto manue parker duncan. yao and yi are here makeing noise. and last year 2 of the top 4 mvp canisdates werent american.
Boxing: nobody talks about it much because the money division(heavyweights) is being ran by other countrys.
            soccer: same as rest

No...Houston doesnt have ONE of the best teams...they are the best team..they just won the MLS Cup.
However if you asked an average american who won it they wouldnt be able to tell ya. You know who 1/4 fills soccer stadiums in America? Boat people, Euro transplants and collegiate geeks who cant make the football or basketball team.
ok...let me school you a little bit on soccer in the USA. Soccer has been tried..and tried...and tried again...indoor soccer..big leagues..small leagues...There was this boom in the 1970's that was supposed to produce this great big new generation of soccer fans in America...Everybody was on this soccer bandwagon...Youth soccer exploded, the creation of the NASL..which subsequently folded for two reasons...ya know what those were????
They were paying their talent (Pele, Wim Jansen, Brian Kidd, Rudi Krol) that was washed up and too old, too much and they had no fan base...sound familiar?? eg. David Beckham..washed up midfielder they are paying 100+ million dollars...I have my own theories about its failure here but I prefer the tried and true..it ****in sucks and its for people in refugee camps and Europeans.
As for this MYTH...that soccer is Growing in America...let us revert back to the numbers...cause those mother****ers dont lie

              MLS REGULAR-SEASON ATTENDANCE AVERAGE
              1996: 17,406
              1997: 14,619
              1998: 14,312
              1999: 14,282
              2000: 13,756
              2001: 14,961
              2002: 15,822
              2003: 14,898
              2004: 15,559
              2005: 15,108
              2006: 15,504
              2007: 16,770

Now...Americans dont...wont...never have and never will like soccer.
Sorry..soccer sucks and America knows it.
