I truly believe this. Out of the current welters, Williams is the only fighter that can actually fight Floyd on the outside. Cotto would get nailed the way Ricky did, I really don't see how Cotto is a real threat to Mayweather, what makes him so different from other pressure fighters like DLH, Castillo, Ricky ect...
Floyd has been fighting pressure fighters with Mexican style all his career, he's mastered that.. Paul williams on the other hand is huge, punches non-stop, his arms like trees and has a great chin. Williams, being a southpaw and a nasty rangy fighter (most of the time at least) can UD Mayweather to a close fight.
I really doubt they will verse though, if they do I'll put my money on Paul and if Floyd wins that fight, then he really has absolutely nothing else to prove..

I gotta agree he poses too many problems for Floyd. I'm not knocking Floyd for taking this fight high risk low reward. And Paul is a ****ing middleweight. I always said this guy will beat the crap out of Mayweather. But honestly I do not expect him to fight him, and for that matter he shouldn't.

If Paul ranks his way up quickly and pushes Mayweather's buttons to take the fight, why not? I'd be a great tactical fight, actually on of the most interesting fights out there.

Mayweather and Williams both measure 26 inches in arm length according to HBO, which is the same as Winky Wright (who is said to have long arms).

Maybe Floyd has long arms and it is just a well-kept secret, because I don't hear much about it.

It is true that Williams deserved the decision against Margarito, but it did seem to be one of those fights like either of the Taylor-Hopkins fights... one guy won more rounds, and the other guy did the damage.

Margarito did more damage to Williams than vice-versa...

Paul needs to work on his accuracy.

Just a quick question for everyone also... does anyone notice that there really are not very many guys who throw a trillion punches in the elite section of the sport? Williams and Juan Diaz are all I can think of off the top of my head. Winky Wright handled two of these type of guys back to back, and he did it with defense (their names were J.C. Candelo and Angel Hernandez by the way).

Winky, you're wrong...defense doesn't beat high volume, not when it's from a distance and you can't close the distance, it also wins close rounds. If Floyd fought the way he has his lost 5 or 6 fights he'd get destroyed by Williams. BTW Floyd's arms aren't near the size of Williams, let's be realistic here, he has the same reach as Ali and Larry Holmes. Do Mayweather's arms go to his shins??
