    Mayweather Should Retire Now-Scoop Jackson

Found this article on ESPN, and thought it was quite interesting.

Mayweather Should Retire With Perfect Record
A message to the greatest boxer alive: It's time to shut it down.

    I'm begging you. Please.
After left-hooking Ricky Hatton back to Manchester ("Knocking him on his flag," as my uncle said), it is time for Mayweather to hang up the gloves and call it what it is while it is what it is: One of the best boxing careers ever seen. He has nothing left to prove. He's done his bid. It's time to do the Jim Brown...

It's not often we see perfection in sports. Which is why Floyd Mayweather should retire, with nothing left to prove.

    Thoughts?

If he comes back after his long vacation and beats Cotto then his legacy will be permanently sealed he wouldn't have anything to prove after that.

He might attempt what Oscar did and goto 160 and try to win titles there.

scoop needs to stick to basketball.i'll admit that they're are two fights out there for floyd and that's cotto and williams,if he thinks he's better than ali he's got his foreman and frazier in those two.if he takes two years off that list will pile up.in two years you can add berto and victor diaz to that list.

cotto should get oscar his mando and williams.then the fight should be made early 09.if cotto does that everybody will forget some what about floyd, and floyd won't let that happen.

Floyd is only 30, imagine what he could do! Break Marciano's record, unify the division, smash all opposition etc....

But if he has his health in mind, which is the main reason for leaving now should he do it, then he should leave now rather than half ass things like Oscar has done.

I agree with the assesment that there will always be someone new for Floyd to face even if he beats Miguel. It never ends so I really can't blame him for leaving while he still has all his braincells.

Scoop is right, hes won alot of titles and hes made plenty of money. Why not get out while your on top and healthy? Boxing is a dangerous sport. With that said, I don't think Mayweather should retire just yet..lol. I do think he should fight Cotto, Paul Williams..etc. I think he still has some more to accomplish while hes still in his prime. And for legacy reasons he should fight maybe 2-3 more fights.
