BS both fighters used tactics. The ref warned Floyd about holding in like the s2nd round. Both fighter and almost every fighter has an illegal move they use to innitiate offense or defend themselves. Fact is Ricky got knocked out. The ref did do something he saved your life. Because if Ricky got up after the second KD, we may have never been able to see him fight again.

He said, in a nutshell, "Floyd got away with stuff on the inside that I didn't get away with." Ok, and? He gave the guy respect and basically said he was an intelligent fighter for getting away with it and out-Hatton'ing Hatton. He (Hatton) even said he probably didn't help matters by having his own brawling history, giving the ref hell, and getting out of his own game plan. Like I said, reasons, not excuses. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Floyd, but he stuck to a gameplan better than Hatton, and he won. End of story. Don't jump on the guy for stating what was obvious, especially when he's not when he didn't take away from his opponent's performance.
A lot of people are hating on Hatton, yet he admitted if he could have gotten away with it, he would have.
He also said that the better fighter on the night won.
STFU and quit bitching.

By Ismael AbduSalaam - I don't know who this dude is but I agree with the following. Whole artice on allhiphop.com
As expected, Hatton applied non-stop pressure early, attempting to prevent Mayweather from getting any room to counterpunch. Surprisingly to many, Hatton was nullified in the clinches by Mayweather, reduced to flailing rabbit punches and efforts to keep Floyd’s elbows out of his neck. During these clinches, Mayweather would push Hatton’s guard up and work the body with clean hooks. This proved invaluable, as the body work slowed Hatton’s early impressive footwork and lowered his hands, setting up the picture perfect left hook KO to punctuate the fight.

Hatton and PBF both were doing illegal **** so really nobody should have **** to say about fouls or the Ref.

As stated before Mayweather adjusted and beat him at his own game. Hatton didn't anticipate that Mayweather could fight on the inside. His game plan to control the fight on inside was thrown off, and he was unable to make adjustments himself.

Hatton said in multiple interviews that he wasn't allowed to fight his fight because Floyd was basically beating him to it. And wrong again - if they were BOTH fouling, then EVERYONE should have **** to say about it. Floyd isn't saying anything because he fought smarter and used what he was getting away with to his advantage because that "style" of fighting isn't his MO. It IS Ricky Hatton's MO, so naturally the ref is going to be more keen on him. It doesn't mean that he said, "Hatton, don't get on the inside." It means that Hatton felt like the ref broke clinches too early. THATS ALL. It doesn't mean he said that he thinks he really won or that he thinks Floyd fouled his way to victory. Hatton said, "Like a true champ he picked his moments, and he nailed me." Excuses and reasons are not one and the same, go play in traffic.

like ive been saying in many previous posts, a lot of the people commenting on how fouls and **** have been going on have no boxing experience. this is a boxing match not a wrestling match, you arent suppose to sit there and put people in headlocks and expect the ref not to break you up. hatton is KNOWN for grabbing/hugging in his fights and the way he trains is utterly ******; let hit this body bag that isnt moving and just whack away at it while screaming w/ WIDE ass shots. while i do admit mayweather does foul quite a bit in this fight with grabbing hattons arms on the opposite side of what the ref cant see and using his elbow, but hatton also fights dirty grabbing mayweather as well and hitting him behind the head numerous amount of times.
hatton's fault was that he was charging in head first w/o working behind a jab. regardless of the 6" reach advantage or not he needed that to get in and set up his body shots instead of trying to bully/wrestle a guy that into the ropes where mayweather covers up so well. ricky's lack of BASIC defense also caused him to eat lead rights all day, i mean it's really ****ing easy to block a lead right esp when floyd half the time leans in before he throws it and being like a few feet away when he throws it. instead of simply blocking it w/ his left he attempts to reach for it on many occasions mistiming and eats it.
im really tired of the excuses surrounding this fight, im not even a floyd fan, but i respect him as a boxer since im a boxer myself and ive met him numerous amount of times since i live iin vegas and not once was he the egotistic guy you see on 24/7(unless he's on the craps tables)Last edited by Catalan; 12-11-2007, 01:22 PM.
