To The Floyd Fans: I want to give my thogughts on the fight, it is no secret that I have never been a big fan of Floyds because of the way some of his fights go, and because I want to see him continue to step up his game and take on all comers, and I am not very fond of the way that he feels the need to berate all of his ooponents and past legends that have paved the way for him. That beind said, i was very surprised in the post fight interview the way that he gave Ricky props and showed him respect for the way he fought him. For the first time, I actually beleived he was genuine and meant what he said. I wont go as far as to say I am a fan but he has given a window to have morerespect for him. I watched the fight and i was cheering for hatton but I was very impressed for the first time i saw his accuracy and his counterpunching ability without thinking he was running and avoiding a fight like I have in the past, and felt he was boxing intelligently instead of just running. I know that it probably wasn't very hard because it wasn't as if hatton wasn't moving his head and was coming right at him, I also don't feel hatton belongs at 147 he proved that in the Collazo fight but I still give Floyd credit for facing some adversity in the early rounds because it seemed that hattons speed surprised and bothered him a little but I give him credit for adjusting and adapting. I though Hatton made a bid mistake in the middle rounds when he chose to stand in the middle of th ring with Floyd, because it was apparent that Floyd had his way in the center of the ring. the first time i watched the fight I was a little upset that they took the point from Hatton when Floyd went under the ropes and hatton hit the top rope, at first I thought it was bull**** but after watching the fight for the second time I saw a couple warnings that I didn't see the first time. It turned out not mattering but I was felt that after continuos warnings Cortez should have taken a point from Floyd for the continual holding, as I said it wouldn't have mattered anyway but if you take a point from hatton for the warnings i feel he should have taken the point from Floyd but it doesn't really matter now. I know that thy were both holding but for the most part I felt Floyd was initiating it. I was very surprised that Floyd knocked Hatton out eventhough hatton was the smaller guy and not as strong at 147, but that is something he hasn't showed in a very long time. I will admit I was impressed and felt better fir the fight to end that way than a decision because it left no doubt. The one thing that did bother me a little is that evnthough it didn't matter at the time of the stoppage I had Floyd up by two points and hatton needing to win at least 2 if not the next 3 rounds to make it even or a chance to win, but the wide margin the refs had the fight scored at the time of the stoppage really bothered me and I am glad the fight ended the way it did in the sense that there was no way to let that effect the fight. I think that both fighters deserve respect from the fans for this fight. If Floyd could tone it down a little and show a little more respect the way he did in the post fight interview, I think that would go a long way for him. I am upset that it seems that he still does not seem to want to fight Cotto. They are the best fighters in at 147 and are both in there primes and at there peak and i would like to see this fight happen to settle the debate and to find out which one is truly the best by them fighting. I acknowledge that Floys is #1 right now and Cotto is #2 but I want to see them settle it in the ring. I feel that it would be a very good fight in which it could go either way. i feel that Floys would obviously have the advantage in the middle of the ring but feel Cotto could keep him honest and do better than Hatton did. i also feel Cotto is stronger and is much better suited as a true welter than hatton is ans is probably one of the strongest welters at 147. I think Cotto could fight a more intelligent fight and do better than hatton. i am not saying Cotto would win, it could go either way, but i would like to see this fight happen because it would be aclassic and i feel the numbers would be huge if that is waht Floyd is concerned with. I could be comforatable with floyd walking away after this fight and would gain more respect for him if he were to take this fight win or lose. As i said at the beginning I can't go as far as calling myself a fan of his but I will say that he has given me a window to respect him more. It is no secret that I have never been a big fan of his but I am trying to be as objective as possible. Id like your thoughts.

Floyd is comfortable as hell at 147 and has officailly grown into the weight..I mean one puch KOS with the weak hand(left)..Floyd looks unbeatable. Im not sure Cotto would beat Shane again..Im not sure he can even beat Clottey, Williams or Margarito..hes just not in Floyds league and its really doing Cotto a diservice to mention him in a Floyd fight..thr kid is not ready....Floyd has too many styles....he would dance circles around Cotto and tag him all night. -
I am sure you make some valid points.. The point of the thread is not to say that this or that person would beat Floyd, it is to give him credit and give some respect not being a Floyd fan trying to show some objectivity. I was overall impressed by him and that is not easy for me to say. he showed real sign after the fight that he was being genuine and din't sem like the brash **** he perceives for once and gave me a window to give some respect to him for that and the fight.Comment
